First, anynoe notice that the shifter does not have the usual leather top. The 1-R is just painted in the silver part. That seems to me that it would wear off quite easily. It's not that the numbers are necessary, but it looks good. Second, does anyone think that the red seats will fade to a pinkish color over time? I would cover it with armor all all over the place, but it still seems that it would fade. Any thoughts?

I don't know about the shifter but I can recommend Lexol to keep your seats in good shape. I've used it on three different cars and it does a good job of keeping the seats like new.

I heard for a guy that is pretty hefty into classic car restoration that armor all is bad for a car's interior. I was told over time it deteriorates the vinyl or leather (not sure which one). Not sure if it's true though. Seems funny that it has been around this long can't see why it would be but... who knows??

For the older cars Armor All is not a good product to use. It can cause the old dash pads to harden and crack. Armor All is great for tires which is what its original use was supposed to be. There are other products you can use but for leather use a leather/upholstery type conditioner.

The material used in cars has come a long way...if the red leather fades, I'm sure it won't be for a long, long time (unless you live in AZ or NMex and leave it out in the sun all day)

Most cars have fabric that can withstand having no roof and still look good... cars with sunroofs and converts especially(ever leave the sunroof open and have a bird do a dive bomb attack. No? Me neither. )

From what I remember, the shifter ****, the numbers are silk-screened and there is a clearcoat over top, so I doubt that the numbers will wear off anytime soon.

Well who ever said you remember anything? Would you state on your life that its clearcoated? Would you be willing to testify in court? Give a blood sample? Submit to a lie detector test? If the answer is no to any of the above, then you are lying and I don't trust you.

Yeah he did but I can't remember what it was now. I wouldn't use armor all on seats anyways--too slippery and oily. I would probably try to find somethng made especially for leather interior.

The sun won't hurt my red leather because my car will be in a garage all day and only come out on the weekends or for a cruise once in a while.

Does anyone know what the ring looks like surrounding the ignition thing where you put your key in? Is it silver, black, metal, plastic?

I picked up my car last night and one thing (of many) that I really like is how the gauges are lit up or back lit in white during the day. I have no problem seeing them. When you turn the headlights on the gauges go to your personal color. Hope this helps.
