I never cease to be amazed by this little car. We put nearly 1K miles on it in three weeks at Myrtle Beach, SC, and it never missed a beat. It's at 94K miles now, and I wouldn't be scared to take it across the country. Oh, and it's still fun to drive.

Still find mine fun to drive as well Jim.. IMHO the 2005-09 models have just enough bells and whistles to satisfy my needs over the current S550 Mustangs that are more sophisticated, advanced and more refined.. Perhaps it's just me, but it seems as though the current S550 cars just don't provide that same raw edge connection and feeling between the car and driver as the previous generation S197 models provided
I'm about ready to turn 108k Just the right amount of buttons on the steering wheel. I would like to upgrade my front seats is about it. I drive it all year round and love every minute of it....other than not being able to hold the go pedal to the floor long enough. I took a new 2016 for a test drive and didn't feeeeeeeeeel like it was worth having a car payment again.
I agree guys. The 197 reminds me of the old muscle/pony cars we grew up with. A little rough around the edges, loud and obnoxious, and lets you know that you need to pay attention to what's going on when you push the go pedal. Originally I had thought I would drive it a year or so, then move up to a 550. I don't think that's going to happen now. If I want to drive a new one I'll just drive my brides car, but with the auto tranny it misses the mark just a bit.

These are fun cars. I'm about to take mine on a 1900-2000 mile round trip from OKC to Georgia starting this Saturday. I changed the oil & filter, air filter, supercharger oil, and had the tires rotated and balanced this week for the trip.

Looking good!! Such a beautiful area there.
I know it's a personal thing but having a manual is so important in these Mustangs for some reason. The fun factor?? My other cars are automatics but it doesn't bother me. Maybe because my first new 'right off the showroom' car was an '82 GT w/ 4 speed. Perhaps a nostalgia thing for me. I just really like mine. MerryChristmas!!

So true Dave. The last manual I had was an '06 Corvette. GM really missed the mark with that set up. Clutch release was to high, and couldn't be adjusted. The tranny was quite notchy, but that wouldn't have been so bad if the clutch could have been adjusted. So when I went looking for that project Mustang I knew it would have to be a manual. As you know that gives a complete different experience in these cars compared to the auto.
Merry Christmas, and a Blessed New Year to you and your loved ones.
And, you must be like me. I slipped away from all the festivities for a little peace, and quiet.

I hate to admit this , but in my working days, I would cover anyone's shift on Christmas to escape the 'festivities'. Guys would start asking me 3 months in advance if they could have Christmas off. I know it sounds bad but I preferred other families domestic disputes over listening to politics at the table. Fortunately it's just my wife and I now in NC and a baked ham to share together. That's Peace on Earth!

Me too, I worked the first seven Christmas's when I was on patrol. We don't have any kids, and the guys with would hit me up to pull a shift for them. It was a great day to work, even the crooks were off on Christmas. Then one day the bride said, "You will be home for Christmas this year". Of course I said, Yes maam.
Like ya'll, it's just me, and her that day and it's very relaxed. We go to a neighbors for breakfast, and for their 9 year old girl, that has to have Uncle Jim, and Aunt Bon there when she opens her presents. Oh yeah, she's got me wrapped around her little finger. We usually do Christmas with her family in Lenoir around the end of the month.
