1969 vs 2005

Team Mustang Source
Fake. It is dressed as a Boss 429, not a Mach 1. If it doesn't have the 429, it ain't a Boss 429 and not worth a whole lot. If it is a Boss, then the engine has been replaced and therefore numbers don't match. Knockoffs can still be nice cars, but, the value is not there like on an original.

its really going to be a rough choice, I have a 65 stang and part of the fun is restoring her . Luckily I live near a mustang parts depot, so yes if you go with the 69 be ready to spend sum money, but the weekend car shows really pay off

id go for the 69, but follow ur heart dude. go wiht what you want more. but some people have made some important points:
-05 might be a better daily driver
-69 parts might not b easy to find
-restoring can be lots of fun
remeber though, this is your car not ours, so let your brain decide, not us

I just cant deal with the sheer crudeness of older cars. Gotta love having a 60s car that your afraid to drive to the beach, not only does it not have air conditioning, but you gotta love getting stuck in bumper to bumper getting into the beach towns on 95 degree days. Your trapped only traveling short distances with old cars. Not to mention they are slow, dont handle well, have lame stereos and sound deadening, never keep a good tune, are not safe at all against modern cars in crashes, stink of gas fumes all the time, dont hold up well to evironmental exposure, creak and squeak no matter how well theyre done up, dont like hot, dont like cold, dont like rain, dont like traffic, etc etc.......and thats on a REALLY NICE one.

Ive had 2 67 firebirds one completely bolt for bolt restored, a 69, and a 71 pontiac catalina with only 17k original miles. I would only buy another car like that if it was my 5th car I own at least.

you can practially build the whole car out of a catalouge (expensive, but possible)
we aren't talking about an oddball car like a '64 Mercury Park Lane...

I don't get all this "numbers matching" talk.
First of all, there is no such thing as a numbers matching vintage Ford (with a few rare exceptions) The engine blocks and trannys did not have unique identifying numbers that were specific to any one car like GM cars did.
Second, we're talking about a $10K fun car here, not a $30 show stopper. As long as it is solid, drives well and looks good, who cares how rare or original it is?

face it the 2005 mustang is going to be better and faster in so many ways..(new technology should be right?) but the 69 is classic and looks and feels good... if i were you.. dont get the 69 because its not a reliable daily driver its going to need work OFTEN and you will be stranded without a car at times if thats all you got

I had a 69 Red Stang Conv with a white top. I had it 18 years. I put a ton of money in it and it still never drove like the new cars. I pulled the AC out to reduce the weight. It was the old style heavy compressor. The car looked great. Always got thumbs up from Harleys on the street. The car was FAST. Motor was balanced and blueprinted. Forged pistons etc. the works. But it handled terrible and I never felt safe when I'd ring it out. When I saw the new Stang at the car show I sold my old friend to the 1st guy that came out(he loved it) for $12,000. I am going to use this money to upgrade to something safer and maybe just as fast that doesn't keep needing things. My Vert was a play car and not a daily driver--------

The 69 for sure if it isn't your daily driver. Hunting down items, working on the car, classic status, and it can be something to be proud of. My kind of hobby!

If I had to make that decision I would go with the '69. Everyone already said that the 05's will be around and the '69s won't, but I think that the '69 is the safer bet. If you get the '69 and decide that's not what you want, you can always sell it for whatever you bought it for. If you bought the '05 and changed your mind you would be forced to do battle with the depreciation demon.
