Hi guys... I hope you can help me to solve a very hard situation. I have found an incredible red fire 1969 Mustang Mach I at $ 12'000 but if I buy it I can't get the new Stang. What would you do? I like old cars, but this all-new car is amazing. I'm very confused and i have to decide my mind because the owner whats to sell it right now.

I drove the old 69' and it's so smooth, loudy and agressive... I love it, but the fact is that is an old car that sooner or later are going to cause me problems (I think). Unfortunately, in my personal situation, I don't know many things about the new Stang (engine sound, driving test, performance), so I'm coming to all of you Mustang lovers to help me to take the best decision.

If you work on your own cars, enjoy working on them and have the patience to track down parts when you will need them, get the '69. (But make sure it doesn't have any major problems before you put your money down).

If you don't work on your own cars and want dependable & fun to drive transportation, get a 2005 Stang.

Depends on if you want more than 1 Stang or not. Would it be your only driver?

If it were me, I would buy the '69. '05s will be a dime a dozen in the upcoming year, a '69 Mach 1 would not be.

I just got out of hot rods and old muscle cars because I like to work on my cars, but tracking down parts and always having something that has to be fixed isn't always fun, especially when you want to go cruising. The new stuff can be rode hard, put up wet, and you get a warranty!

i was in a similar situation as you. i was wanting to find a 65/66 gt fastback as a toy car, knowing full well it would never be my daily driver. then i saw a picture of the 2005. i decided that the 2005 had a great retro look that pacifies my want of a 65/66 but still has the modern conveniences and reliability.

i decided to wait and get a 2005 when it comes out.

maybe someday i'll have a stable full with a 65/66 fastback, but it will have to wait.

also, a 69 mach at 12,000 seems a little low...does it have the 351c ? how many miles? is it restored?

Buy the 1969.. a classic is a classic...

you seems to have a nice fleet of cars as it is based on your sig. If you already have a good daily driver, get the 1969.

Get the 69 Mustang.....You may never get the chance to buy a classic 69 Mustang. The new 05 Stang will be around for a long time. You can always save up for it in the future. I took me for ever to buy my 69 Mustang....I search for a long time, finaly found one, but it needed to restored. You won't have to that.... :nice:

Yeah. You'll have plnety of chances in the new few years to pick up a new body style. Not often a classic comes along in good condition like that.

Go for the 69!!!

yeah man if theres nothing major wrong and all the parts are there. then go for the 69. in 2 years you'll prob be able to get an 05 for not much more than the 12,000 for the 69. and if it does ave a problem. as long as you can get the parts they are so easy to work on compared to the new ones(tho warranty helps) but then you are limited on modifications

I'd be cautious with a '69 Mach at 12K. Make sure it is a real Mach, numbers match, etc. Have a Mustang expert look at it and appraise it. Look it over thoroughly for damage, poor quality body work, uneven tire wear (?bent frame), etc. It would be easy to get burned on a car like this. IF it is as good as it seems, then you will cherish it as long as you own it. If it isn't, you will kick yourself everytime you fix something on it.

Im done with old cars untill I can afford to have a personal mechanic maintain and clean the collection.

I don't remember how many miles the car has... As far as I know, the car it's restored... and unfortunately have the 302 engine with 4 barrel carb, 4 std. The car also have the 429 hood scoop and the stickers on the sides.

By the way... I was wrong... it have the 351C engine...

I hope it is a 351W... you couldn't get the cleveland engine in the 1969's. That would be a good sign the engine is not the original one, if that makes a difference to you.

Go with the '69 if its gonna be the weekend or fun car :banana:

(my cousin has a fairly decent 64.5, and it hasn't given him much trouble, but it is no good as a daily driver[safety features-seatbelts, paper thin bumpers/ convenience options-no a/c, am radio)

Unless the '69 has been COMPLETELY restored, be ready to spend a great deal of time and money maintaining it! Anything with a rubber seal, gasket, gromlet, etc., etc., is gone or will be gone real soon!

Go with the weekend/fun or daily formula, it works.
