18 X 8.5 wheel and tire questions

I'm having trouble with my internet connection, so I can't efficiently search past posts.

I'm looking at black FRPP bullitts due to them NOT having a lip, and the size is 18 X 8.5

Is a 255/45/18 tire fine on a 18 X 8.5 inch rim ?

And what about a 275/45/18, will this require an 18 X 9 wheel or can it fit on an 8.5 inch rim safely?

Thanks

Yes, 255/45R18s are fine on a 18x8.5 - 275/40R18s require a minimum width of 9 inches to properly support the tire

Thanks for the quick answer.

NITTO 255/45/18's it is then

My connection has come around now...

I did a search after I posted and found 1,000,000 posts answering this question.

My Nitto 555's are going on FRPP black bullitts Monday or Tuesday.

There was just something about seeing those FRPP black Bullitts on a Shelby GT in person a couple of weeks ago that made me want them.

I believe they will look outstanding as well as menacing on my mineral grey GT.

Pics to be posted next week.
