09 Mustang GT v8 exhaust

I'm looking for an exhaust that has a low rumble and that's not too loud. Suggestions?

Loud is a relative thing depending on the person. Check out the FR500 Ford performance, or the Roush Performance exhaust. Both have the low rumble you're looking for, but may be too loud for you. I just installed the FR500's on my '07, and am really pleased with the sound. Just right on acceleration, and they quiet down with no drone at cruising speeds.

You can use YouTube to hear the different exhaust, and can get the best prices from our forum dealers here. American Muscle, and CJ Pony Parts, etc. There are so many different aftermarket exhaust systems for the Mustang it's hard to choose which one is best for you.

Welcome to the forum.

GTAs. I got a used pair for a steal, sanded, primed, and painted them semigloss black after taping off the tips, polished the tips up, and love them for their looks and their sound. No drone, sounds good at idle, sounds great on hammer time...

Thing is, they aren't available new anymore...

And yes, those are about right in price. They're that kind of rare now, and unless they were on like mine, aftermarket, they were for the Shelbys of that era.

No, the GTBs are not the same. Straight 'cut', different sound. They're pretty good too though, just not the look I want.

Also, whatever muffler you're lookin' into, there's probably a youtube on it. Check out the GTA vs GTB on a V6. You'll see the tips and hear the difference:

The second half is the GTAs, what I have. I really like the way the sound, but that V6 firing order sorta messes it up a tiny bit. Still... like them better on that V6 than the GTBs.

Just my opinion on it. But I do like 'em plenty.

Take some chambered mufflers and mid mount them before the axle. That is going to give you that old school rumble you are looking for.

I have the FR500S mufflers on my 2010 and I like them a lot. Under light throttle cruising they have a nice deep rumble, audible but not intrusive or obnoxious. Absolutely zero drone in my car. Under heavy throttle and high RPM they do get quite loud. For the residential country roads around here, they can be a bit on the loud side for spirited driving. For non-residential areas or the race track I think they are perfect.
