09 interior question
just picked up a 09 gt deluxe- and noticed its got the silver door handles and leather door panel inserts...my 06 deluxe is all black plastic, the wifes 07 pony has the same as the 09- did ford start putting the leather inserts in the doors on everything in 07/08/09? just curious if they mighta put the wrong door panels on or something

Tim, I haven't ordered a Deluxe since 2005, so I had to look it up, lol. Lucky, I can get onto Ford's dealer site from home. The deluxe does NOT come with the leather door panels, only the premium does (or so it says on the newest 2009 order guide). My thought...they misbuilt your car. Not a bad thing. I've seen it before, though not in a LONG TIME. Back in 2000 or so, a customer wanted an XLT Expedition with leather. We found him one at another store. We got it, and saw it had heated seats! You can't get heated seats in an XLT Expedition, even with leather. We figured the factory didn't have any more XLT leather seats, so they used Eddie Bauer seats (as that is what they were). So, I'm guessing they needed door panels, and since Deluxe models aren't ordered as prevelantly, they probably didn't have the proper door panels, and just used the Premium ones. You got a bonus bud!

too bad they didnt run low on plastic steering wheels- I like the leather one much better...I'm sure I can get a newtakeoff one and silver shift **** for cheep

Besides the IUP, ALL mustangs with side airbags also have the Silver Handles & Door Inserts (check the '07 order guide)...
Since side airbags became standard in '08 ALL '08-'09 have them regardless of trim pkg.

My car is a 2006 Deluxe that I ordered with 2 options: Shaker 500 and IUP. The door panels in my car have the aberdeen leather door panel inserts and silver handles. It's like a Premium with cloth upholstered seats.

Not true! See the pic below. Its the page out of the 2009 Order Gude (I know the date says 3/19/08, the newest one 9/1 is the same). It shows standard equipment in stages. The 1st GT is the deluxe and the second one is the Premium. The second column shows the Dark Charcoal door inserts and Inside Door Latches as STANDARD Equipment for a PREMIUM! Tim's car was mis-built, since his is a Deluxe.

I think the IUP came with the fancier doors/trim...I almost ordered that on my 06, but didnt care for the bright dash(my 69 is all black...wanted similar) so just ordered the Sport Appearance Package that gave me the leather wheel and shift **** only...

UM, thats a 2007 Order guide!! He has a 2009, and Ford changed things since then!! Plus, I already posted the info (i.e Order Guide) that states the Premium, not the Deluxe) comes with the dark charcoal door panels, and satin door handles! Didn't you see the pic I posted?

About a picture? I'd love to, if we actually ordered a base Mustang GT at work. No one wants a cloth GT coupe, so I don't have one.
