Yes we have seen the GR-1, but this is the 2005 Mustang section. There is a section for exotic Fords. http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?showforum=34

Just picking with you earlier. Anyway, can you imagine how how expensive that car is going to be? It hurts my head to even think about it.

It's replacing the GT so I would imagine about the same price.

It's going to be a sweet replacement. I love the GT's though.

I read somewhere that Ford wants it to compete with the Viper in price/performance so I would expect it to be in the $70K-80K range.

I heard that they were wanting the Shelby Mustang to do that. But we shall see. The GR-1 is going to have 600 hp, so it should easily outperform a Viper.

At 600 Horses it will outrun the GT as well! I think it's around 550 right? I doubt a Viper could even come close to that. I would have to think Holder is right on this one.

True market value on the GT is way more than the $145k MSRP. Ford is now realizing that they could have sold them for closer to $300k, and i dont think they are eager to make another underpricing mistake like that.

But the GR-1 will probably be built with less exotic/expensive components, plus they will be built in the GT production facilities, which may further defray costs.

That said, i think the GR-1 will be less of a performer than the GT, but still cost about as much.

Here are the performance targets for the GR-1(now its a long way from production, so a lot can change):

0-60 - under 3.9 sec
0-100 - under 8.0 sec
qtr mile - 11.9 sec @ 126 mph

Now that is pretty quick. Not as quick as the GT's, but then again those are estimates. Can't wait to see this thing in action though.

I sure hope it's not gonna be much more than the Z06 then b/c those specs match the 05 Z06

for those of you that don't know.... it seems that Carrol Shelby is always trying to out do himself. After he built the AC Cobras and the 6 (and a half) Daytona coupes, and the Shelby Mustangs, he went to work for the Chrysler Corp...... and built the revered (just kidding) Dodge Daytona.... the fastest of which had a turbo charged 4 popper. Then after the 70 and early 80's when the fuel crisis was over, he went to work on the Viper. Then after a falling out with Chrysler, he went to work with GM..... built the Shelby Series 1.... however it never out performed the Viper. And.... now, he's back with Ford, and when the Cobra Roadster concept more or less flopped, they decided to make a run at the old Daytona Coupe that looked so sweet, but never made it off the track. If you look at the tail end of the Viper and the Shelby Series 1 and now the GR-1, they all kinda take on the look of the Daytona Coupes back in the 60's.... but nothing is a closer rendition than the GR-1.
So... I just went off and rambled, but, I'm thinkin' that Shelby wnts to go out with a bang, and a 600 hp coupe that is not to be outdone by his previous creations would be a fine way to do so, IMO.
I'll bet he'll make it his best creation..... not sparing much expense.
