06 power seat ...one side screwjack binding up

The outboard screw jack on my driver seat tends to bind up going front-back, which starts to twist the seat. You gotta back n forth little at a. Time to move it all the wan..lube not changing. All functions work ok...just hangin up. Any ideas anybody?.. New motor kit is 400+....

Pretty much gotta yank the seat and figure it out, honestly.

Quick facts about the mechanism: The two screw jacks are run by the same motor. The motor has two shafts, coming out either side of the motor. Those shafts then go into 90 degree gears to turn the effort 'north to south' if you will, and run the screws. The nuts follow the screws, causing the seat to move back and forth.

The places of failure for this particular setup is the 90 degree boxes, or the screw/nut is being jammed. It is *unlikely in the extreme* it's at the motor, or the seat would simply not move at all.

Might be hitting the junk yards to find a power seat setup. I got one that popped up here for some reason, and I keep it for spare, just in case.

I can't remember if '06 had the side airbags, but anyone with an '06 and up needs to be aware to *depower the airbag*. You don't want it to go boom.

Good luck!

First..thanks for the info. No side air bags so were ok. I understand that the seat motor is interchange able from 06 to 12, so junk yard has a wide range.can you repair those 90 degree joints? ..take em apart , clean em up, anythin?? This sucks....she's 5 ft....I'm 6'1. Don't want the seat to be stuck way back....

I really don't have an answer for that. I'd just get another out of the junkyard and have a go at that one to see what's up... or use it and fix the current one...

sounds like a clip fell off the end of the screw on the side that is messing up.
