Thumbs up

All,

I ordered a 2006 GT 6 weeks ago and have still received no VIN or build date! I got a call this evening from a dealer nearby with a 2006 they just received which is configured exactly like my order except for IUP and airbags.

My question: should I wait (probably a couple more months) for the IUP or take the '06 that's already here? Is the IUP worth the wait? Of course, they need an answer tonight because tomorrow (Saturday) will see the car sold in a jiffy!

Thanks in advance for the help!

I saw wait for the car. Its still early in the production. Def go to your dealer and tell them you want a VIN, I think by now they should be able to get you one.

Do you want the IUP and side airbags? If so wait. If it's not important go get this one.

If you search the forums you'll find that it seems possible to upgrade to IUP after the car is bought, but not all cars have the connector, so that may not be doable on this one. Read as much as you can on that, and while I doubt a dealer would let you pop the cover where the IUP buttons would go, who knows...

Can you live without IUP? Are you certain?

Seeing some of the waits here for 05's I might be reluctant to wait it out, but it seems the 06's are coming through faster.

You're going to have the car for a while. You should really get everything you want. Don't compromise to save a few months of waiting. Two weeks without serialization is not a long wait.

If I were you, I'd wait.

IMO the interior doesn't look nearly as good without the IUP, and if you have a family, the side air bags are always a good idea.

I have a feeling that if you take the one off the lot, you'll be VERY happy short-term, but will end up regretting not waiting for exactly what you want.

Just my 2 cents.

You should go to the dealer and see the difference between IUP and no IUP and make ur decision from their. I think if ur gonna spend 26k and up on a car u should make it to where everything bout it is what u want. and have no regrets later on.

I want the IUP because I want the 6-gauge cluster. The MyColor fun will fade after a few weeks.

Ask yourself the reasons you want the IUP. If you can nail that down, you'll know much better whether to buy now or wait.

I guess its really just the 6 gauges and the MyColor/message center. Its really hard for me to wait another couple of months when I can get those installed after-market.

Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for all the advice, folks! I really appreciate the help. I think I'll buy this car as the only things about the car I would change can be changed after-market or with Ford parts (6-gauge cluster with msg center).

This car is a premium GT, manual tranny, the right colors inside and out and even has the 18" Fanblades! I feel like a loser not being able to wait for my custom order. I'll admit it, the ERL has beaten me. :worship:

Anyway, looks like I'll be getting my '06 tomorrow. I will post pics as soon as I can.

Thanks again for all the help -- really appreciated!
