06 gt engine swap
06 gt engine swap
So i have a neglected 06 gt and need to weigh my options for a new engine. The current engine has a messed up timing chain and 2 of the transmission mounts are non existant (due to a shop who didnt know who to set the proper torque on their tools) im looking at either a rebuilt 4.6 3v or dropping a new coyote in. Has anyone done either of these to their 06? What else besids the actaul block am i going to need for either of these swaps? Any idea of total price for parts? Any help would be much appreciated, im no were neer a mechanich but have some mechanical knowhow. Thanks in advance for the help
Yeah im deffinatly leaning 4.6 because of the cost an complication of ecu. Does anyone know of good places to get stroked blocks either online or in the nyc area? Also if anybody knows of anywhere that sells turn key strokers that will fit?
Ford Racing sells a recycled 2005-2010 4.6L block with a new forged rotating assembly, bored/stroked to 5.0L. It's a shortblock but if you refreshed your 3V heads you could longblock it with parts from your current engine:

MMR sells forged and stroker engines with tons of options. You can buy a complete drop in one from them or send in yours. What they can do is only limited to how deep your wallet is.

Man digging through there I wish Ford had a big bore 5.4 block.
Other than acquiring a 5.8 block the other option is to sleeve a CI or AL 5.4 block. Darton has the MID sleeves which allow up to a 95mm bore but IIRC an iron block plus sleeves and machine work is more expensive than the 5.8 AL block outright.
