Hey kc,
do you know for sure if I could swap the 17's on my 05 for those chrome Bullitts (235/50-18) when they will be available ?
I mean, it should be feasible from a technical point of view (same tire width, the whole tire+rim height should be half an inch bigger than the 17's...), right ?
Also, do you know what offset those rims have and what brand are the tires on them ? You know, I checked at Tirerack.com the availability of Pirelli Pzero Nero MS (the OEM's on the 05 GT) and it seems they don't exist in that size, so I was wondering what brand they are using for those 18's (I hope something like the Michelin Pilot Sport AS, nothing worse than these)...

Shouldn't you at least buy dinner first?

Yes, you can swap the 18s on no problem. I assume that the 18-inch bullits will have the same tires that the 18-inch fanblades come with - 235/50/18 BFGoodrich g-Force KDWS.

If you're upgrading, you'd be better off going with 255/45/18s IMO. That's what some of us who upgraded to fanblades have already done.

Thanks for the info RMac, I appreciate it a lot.

The idea of getting 255's is enticing, even though my problem is that my driveway is so steep that every millimeter REALLY counts. Already with the present setup (just stock wheels) every time I exit my driveway, I always brace for the possibility of scratching the front of my Stang (never happened so far, thank God) and I calculated that 235/50-18 should give me a few millimiters more, while 255-45 would take away about 0.07 inches. You might laugh at this (only 0.07 inches of difference), but it could very well make the difference between getting in and out of my driveway without hearing that heart-wrenching sound of the front bumper grinding against the tarmac...

are you talking about width, because it would only be about 10mm of extension from the inside & outside equaling the 20mm.
How would this save you from scrathes since the tires are tucked into the fender very well.
I'm not seeing the scenario very well.

Nope, he's talking about overall diameter or more specifically, half the increase in the overall diameter decreasing his ground clearance.

However, the point that 0.07 inches is going to make any difference in that situation is completely unrealistic. You'll gain that decrease back by washing your driveway, LMAO

Here is a link to the website where you can get MSRP on these parts. But, they don't have the 18" rims listed.
