I Googled this problem and found several threads that essentially went no where. They all ended with :"Mine is doing the same thing. Following" lol
My 05 V6 auto Mustang occasionally engages very harshly when put into reverse. Not always. But when it happens.....smh It's a hard engagement. What is the culprit?

A Fluid Check Would Be The First Place I Would Check! Likely Needs a Fluid Service If High Mileage and Never Done!

I would also suspect high mileage as well along with requiring fluid servicing.
