05 Stang in San Antonio
#1
Just wanted anyone near the San Antonio area to know that the 05 will be here Wednesday, August 18 from 3:00 to 8:00 pm. Details are as follows:
To commemorate the 40th Anniversary the new Mustang will appear at Jordan Ford dealership. (13010 IH 35N)
Chief designer Larry Erickson will be available to answer questions and sign new Mustang posters
Over 100 Mustangs will be shown as well
Oh yea...
Had to put in the traditional bananas.
Now with that said ... what questions do you guys want me to ask besides price?
I have seen the lists from previous times so I am guessing for more info on the SE, Cobra, and ....
Let me know and I will get as much as possible.
Taking a day of leave (vacation time) to be there as long as possible.
I do not have a digital camera, waits for the jokes, but will be taking my SLR camera and can scan those in or mail them to Scothew.

1. Performance of the '05 GT compared to the LS1
2. When will we see another SE, and what will it be called? Boss maybe? Or what about that Shelby guy?
3. Will the SVT Cobra keep its name?
4. Price range on the next SE and Cobra
5. Most likely the next Cobra will have IRS, but will the SE?
6. Do they plan to continue their trend of clearly distinguishing the difference between models ala cosmetic changes? Scoops, louvres, different bumpers, fogs
7. Will we be seeing a variation of the 4.6L 3v (forced induction) or a totally different engine on the SE/Cobra?
Hmmm...I guess that's it for now Oh yeah, have fun!

Tell him that his reps keep mentioning a "stripe package" next year (many reps have said this). Ask him for more details....ie. will there be a power bump.
But start off by saying that several ford reps have said this.

Wooo Hooooo!!!
Looks like I'll have to take the afternoon off and drive down there. That is, if it is open to the public. I'd like to know for sure before driving over 100 miles (from Round Rock) I suppose I'll try to find that dealership's website, see if it says anything about it.
Yay I'm so excited!

Here's what the dealership said in their reply to my question:
"Thank for your interest in our 2005 Mustangs and just to let you know the vehicle, a 2005 GT coupe will be here on display from 4:00 PM till 8:00 PM on Wednesday."
Woo hooo!!
I sent another email just a few minutes ago to confirm that it will be available to sit in and look under the hood. I'm pretty confident that it will be judging from the original post by Milstang, but my dad (who may be coming with me) wanted to know for sure. I'll let you know what the response is to that when I hear.

Sorry for the delay, just made it home from work.
It is open to the public. Only one 2005 will be there, but they will have over 100 "classic" mustangs available for show.
If any of you have a digital camera come armed please. Like I said I only have my SLR one, but I am bringing it too!
Dan, that will be my top question as I am very interested in a Shelby SE myself. Not sure if I can wait for a Cobra..... unless it will be a GT 500. B)
Will post again tomorrow and if any of you that are coming want to meet up let me know. Can PM you my cell # and a rally point/time.
By the way, this was in the weekend paper, half page story, so expect quite a few there.
i.e. get there early if you can before all the crowds ruin your chance to get pictures without 50 people around the car.

Also, maybe ask how it compares to the Mach 1 /LS1 cars in the quarter and did they run them to compare.
Good luck! I'll be waiting on Wed. night for your post.

Here's the response to my second email to the dealership:
"Yes, the car will be on display so people may view the engine and interior. We will have Food and T-shirts available on that day. Hope to see you there."
I'll be there hopefully before 5. And I do have a digital camera that I'll bring. See y'all there!

Just drove by Jordan Ford a little while ago and guess what I saw?!?!?!?!
That's right folks, a 2005 Red Mustang GT!
It is sitting in an enclosed trailer that has plexiglass windows on either side to allow you to see the entire car. It is beautiful! Not the upgraded interior but cool just the same. The shift lever, as some have speculated, is black leather with a brushed metal cap. The pictures on the web don't do the gauge cluster justice. It truley looks like a Mustang again. I can't wait to hear the engine fire off tomorrow.
I'm not going to sleep much tonight!
