Hmmm... For me, the body work is simple. (Or simpler). There are lots of people good at it.If you could find a totalled 05, it would be a cut & paste on the roof (to stick in on a vert).

When it comes to frame and structure, I'm nervous. I remember too many problems in the 70s and 80s with targas or T's that would flex and not let you put them back in, or they'd pop out, or the car would creak. And I trust Fords engineering over a tuner. But trust the body guys just fine.

But you're probably right, it'll probably be cheaper, easier and work just fine to hack a piece of roof out. And make something to mechanically allow a removable. Realistically, you could probably do a T top much easier. (Less structural impact). But I still love the Targa. I moved from So Cal -- where I had a choice of many great tuners. Now that I'm in Ohio, I think the choices are more scarce. Plus the idea of taking a NEW car, that isn't even paid off, and chopping it up. (shudder).
