05 Mustang, Motor Trend Car of the Year?
#5
I'd love to see the Mustang as COTY, but I think they're going to choose the 300C. Majors have called it a franchise saving car, and it's a brand new design, which weighs heavily in COTY voting at MT.
I hope I'm wrong.

Yaa the 300C dangerous. Even if the 300C doesn't get it. I can see the Magnum being a problem.
Even on the Market. The Magnum will be the same league as the stang. But its a 4 door. GM doesn't have anything that could win I don't think. I herd Rumours that the Camaro is coming back. which I can see. And that Chevy got ahold of the name Chevelle again. So we may see a battle in the future

I really think it will be between the 300C/Mustang
The 300C is selling like crazy, the plant is trying to keep up with demand. I expect the same reaction with the Mustang.
These two cars are segment-breakers IMO, and both are worth candidates

THE CAR CONNECTION
Read the article, plus many friends that work at the plant have stated to me that they cannot keep up with demand.

I don't know if MT cares about the sales figures of the cars it judges, but the 05 will definetly surpass the 300. And I think that the 05 is an all around better car than the 300, being not only a sports car, but also something of a family car(if ya got a small family) and an empty nesters car, too. It's an all around jack-of-all-trades, which the 300 cannot match.

300C selling like crazy and yet every lot I pass has at least 2 sitting there. One's had the same 2 for weeks now. Meh.

I've heard the 300 with the hemi just flies. Also hear how its turning the industry on its ear. Would be more interesting if we could actually get some hard numbers on the 'Stang.

I do like the comic book gangster car look, but the view outside is as hummer-like as it looks. It does feel like you are driving in a box, as does crossfire and pacifica. Chrysler just has one enormous obsticle to get over now, its reputation. Toyota has slacked on updating its chassis technology because it can just ride along fine on reputation only. They still use multi-section bodyside stampings and doors, thin metals, outdated rivited c-frames on thier trucks, and beam axle non-independant suspension on their small cars, and they just sail right along.......
