First off all of this is bench racing, take it to the track and find out.
Second I think it's hilarious how Stang owners love to tout their cheap performance, but as soon as something equally cheap beats them they start wailing "RICE!!" and or "But your car is ugly!!1" I've expirienced that myself once or twice.
Such poor sports, lets get grown.

A chip alone doesn't give you 55HP much less 100+ hp. Its a totally different thing if after adding the chip, you add racing gas and go up on the boost. You'll definetly make some big gains in hp, but 100+ hp? . . . that's just simply BS!

I disagree with you. My brother-in-law races trucks. He just picked up a Chevy 2500 diesel. 300 hp stock. He added a chip and now is running at 425hp. He did nothing but add a chip. Truck was on a dyno before and after the chip was added.

I've seen a few episodes of "Trucks" where they added a chip to a diesel truck, and the gains WERE considerable.
It added 20+ hp and 30+ lb/ft of torque. Nowhere near 100. Chips don't necessarily change the power of the engine, but can simply adjust the air/fuel mixture, rev limiter, tranny and shift points, idle speed, etc. That's where the added power comes in. You can't expect to put a chip in a car and have it act like a supercharger. That's ridiculous. And until I see real hard evidence that a chip can do that, I won't believe it.
I'll back up the statement that a lot of import drivers can't shift. Not necessarily imports in general, however.
Guys who drive actual riceburners (not the WRX or any factory rally-inspired car) seem to have no idea how to shift. I know this because most of the people in that crowd are my age. They all scream about VTEC, but don't even know how to get the most out of the engine when the lift intitiates.
I also have seen a few young WRX drivers who had no idea how to drive with an all-wheel drive setup, let alone a turbo. :notnice:
They're definitely a force to be reckoned with, 4-cylinder or not.
But, just like with the GTO, I personally am not too fond of the styling. Also, being 6'4", I need a bigger car. Not for the interior space, necessarily, but for the "driver height to car length" stat.

Rip the limiter and throw a screw/roots supercharger on the mustang and it will smoke (literally) a WRX in practically any reasonable setup.
Truthfully, anyone looking for raw straight line performance would be hard pressed to find a better deal than the 05 mustang GT.
That said, the WRX will likely tear it up in the corners. However, turbos require a lot more work to exit properly. Unless you really know how to drive (and I am not saying you don't but most people don't) it is likely the wieght advantage would be negated by turbo lag. If you let the mustang get away from you or miss shift entering a corner, it is unlikely you will ever be able to get in front of it. This assumes all stock and an 02 WRX. Aftermarket WRX and stis can be a scary fast little car... noting that aftermarket and svt stangs can be even scarier.
But then again, the 2005 Mustang Gt hasn't been built yet, let alone any aftermarket goodies, so I guess that makes the WRX faster for now.
Personally, I have no desire to supercharge a mustang and void the warranty. I have a motorcycle that is plenty fast for me and it has no problem tearing up imports, muscle cars and just about anything else legal to drive on four wheels. This being motorcycles superiority in street legal speed I hope is something we can all agree on.
As a side note, I have never owned a mustang or even a ford. This will be my first (and those Fix Or Repair Daily stories better prove to be false). I currently drive a supercharged blazer, which wasn't designed to go on this engine, with lots o' goodies under the hood. Not super fast (close to a 5.2 second 0-60), but it suprises a lot of tuner boys.

Yeah I'm a troll, with my 124 post right....
And me stirring the pot doesen't make a grand difference one way or another, as this is all theorhetical and dependent on more variables than horsepower, weight, stickers, styling, brand, or which entusiast board this is, so this is all void.

Newbie here, i'm from Ecuador, have been reading about this, and i have some points to say
1. WRXs are not that fast straight line stock, maybe it's the fact my dad had an IHI turbocharged Escort Cosworth and that was the first and only car i drove for some time (as a matter of fact he imported 2 and sold a blue one), stock to stock it's pretty even at start, up to 60, then the WRX is dead and long forgotten, the Cosie had a lot of lag but then it's really punchy. Also, the 50hp gains from a chip are true, maybe the Cosie is veeery corked up from the factory, but the chip raises boost, fixes a lot of the lag issues and makes the car a beast.
2. WRX are not that fast in the corners, now dad is in his 50s and he has got a S40 T5 (great car), i raced a WRX on a semy desolated B road last week, mine is an automatic, he wins at launch (more agressive gearing i guess), but it can't beat a C1 AWD car in the corners.
Acceleration is awe inspiring and from a roll at 30mph he can't beat me, the car corners vey flat and is very poised altough it understeer a little at high g corners under heavy throttle, but you can always get the foot off. I could hear more his tires squealing than mine. The only dissapointing parts are the brakes, they do their job, but pulls a bit sometimes and sometimes the trannie lets revs drop below powerband, if it was a manual would rock.
So dont fear WRX, STi's are another issue, but they are rare, and i'm pretty sure the new Stang will hold it's own in the corners, won't be an M3, but wont be an old school truck either, i guess it will give the GTO a run for his money around a track. (maybe i'm just used and blinded by european fords that handle sweet)

Feh... Only simple mods worth a crap are forced induction installs and gears. Everything else is fluff.
To be honest in a N/A app, there is not much to be gained by adding CAI, MAF, TB, Headers, Exhaust, Tuning, etc.
Now add an S/C or a turbo and the easy mods show their worth.
Only mods worth a squat on a N/A car are the ones that have been used forever; increase displacement, better cylinder heads and better cams. However with the variable cam timing, I suppose the last aspect isn't as useful as it once was (the only advantage I see is a more agressive lobe profile and higher lift).

First of all, I doubt just a chip will add 55hp to that WRX, your friend is full of poo.

We're talking about two completely different engines here.

And I've seen the exact same thing happen on Chevy boards. You stirring up the pot doesn't help matters much. Why don't you grow up and quit trolling.

The number of posts has nothing to do with being a troll (you're proof of that) and it's not the first time you've been called a troll. I don't recall anyone tagging me with that label.
