There is a lot of (probably) good parts in that car. The engine alone should fetch $3k to $4k with the electronics by itself. The transmission should probably go for $2.5k or more. Then we have the various interior parts, the rest of the drive train not to mention (at least!) the rear quarters and other body parts in the rear.

It actually MIGHT be worth $10k as it is. Tops. $15k is crazy talk! I wonder how much he paid for it...

You can be doing 60 mph in second. [/b][/quote]
I don't see 2 middle aged ladies pulling out of the dealership & hitting 60 in 2nd gear. If that was a 60mph hit the car would be a lot worse & most likely totaled. It looks like they hit between 20-30mph.

Little old lady, huh?...

2nd gear? Maybe they were downshifting from 5th and wanted to be in 2nd.

I wonder why the side airbags didn't deploy at that kind of serious impact.

You need an off center or side impact for them to activate. Air bags are pretty smart now. If there was no passenger in the Stang the right side bag would not have deployed.
I do see on occasion air bags that should have deployed & they do not. Most of those incidents are reported to the manufacturer for investigation.

Drivetime,

It clearly WASN'T a side impact. No reason for the bags to deploy. Costs more and can lead to additional injuries if an airbag deploys when it isn't needed.

This extent of damage leads me to believe she was definitely doing more than 20 or 30 mph. And what was she doing driving so fast in an alley?

The car is very repairable. As for frame damage, if it were bent it can be straightend. With laser guided frame machines today you would be surprised at what we can fix...for a cost!!

The costs will come in parts. Being a new model parts will be hard to find and expensive. Parts alone, never mind if it needs frame work, would probably be upwards of $ 3,000 to $ 4,000. Don't forget its not just the sheet metal and bumper that needs replacing, its all the fasteners, clips, wiring,rad/supports,lights, housings.....and on and on. You also have to be ready for the unexpected (Now thats an Oxymoron)...What if the block is cracked??? Did it jam the oil pan? Did it push the engine back enough to break a mount...Engine or tranny...or both?? And so on...

Next the interior will not be cheap to fix. I'd hazard to guess at how much the airbags, dash and steering wheel parts would be but your probably looking somewhere around $1,000 +.

Then you have to do all the prep and paint. Im here to tell you that paint material is skyrocketing, pricewise. Even though the car is Black, to do this right I would do the whole car. By the time you buy the sandpapers, Etch, primer/sealer (with hardners & reducers), paint(with reducers),clear (with hardeners & reducers) your looking at $1,500 to $ 2,000...depending on the product line you use.

So realistaclly, yes, the car is repairable. But you would have to get it for under 10G's to make it feasable. You have to take into consideration the depriciation value and the fact that it is damaged goods. I would not touch it for any more than 10,000...and thats pushing it!! :nono:
