05/GT goes to Autocross School
I attended the Evolution autocross school in Lawrenceville GA last Saturday. Everyone was amazed that I would run a 2 month old mustang GT on an autocross course. Even the instructors were surprized at the performance of the GT on the tight solo course. All I've done to the suspension was to replace the stock springs with the Eibach pro kit. The GT handles like a dream in the turns and when you feed it throttle it digs in like a quarterhorse. Whether it was sweeping turns, hairpins, Chicago boxes, or sloloms, the GT took it like a true sports car. On the larger course you could really let the car out. At the end of the day I wanted to see what the car could do so I rode shotgun while my instructor (a national champion in solo 1) ran the course and all I can say is
Ford built this car to run, and the only limitation is the guy behind the wheel.

I hope I run into you, not literally, soon! I finally talked my wife into letting me autocross and I've been checking out the Solo program here in Atlanta. I'll wait for it to cool down first so she can bring the kids out. We, and I mean we, are trying to get our 3 year old interested in racing in the quarter scale midgets and this seems like a great way to do it!

Which Eibach kit did you use? Did it make your ride more bumpy?

Glad to hear from a fellow autocrosser! The 05 does handle great. I too have had many vetrans in the sport come up and comment how they are amazed how a factory bone stock car can handle. I hope to get some nice sticky tires for next year.....then watch out!!!!!!
