Thumbs up

I've allways cherished the documents I've been able to find for my past Mustangs. Build sheets, invoices, window stickers, color charts, etc. add value to my cars. However, I would expect the days of finding a build sheet under the passenger seat or carpet of a '04 or '05 are gone. Does anybody know what docs are availalbe at purchase or know soruces for new car docs?

The build sheet for many cars is merely placed in the interior of the car prior to shipping. If you inspect the car before dealer prep, you may find it. That is how I got mine.

My SVT has gotten me, 3 hats, two magazine subscriptions, 2 key chains, a build certificate, a nice hardcover book on the history of SVT(says $50 retail!), a t-shirt, touch up paint and a bunch of ads and brochures. All in 5 months.

The challange is to get the dealer to call you before they prep it. If you get a dealer with some skill and motivation, this may be possible. If not, these docs are trashed.

Just be stubborn about it. State that you will not pay a cent for the car and walk away if all the documentation isn't included.

I only have 2 window stickers that they did not place on the car because I ordered.
One says "Vehicle Not for Sale"

I found my build sheet in my 1999 "Limited Edition" GT under the spare tire. Was nice to find.
You just have to look around.

They HAVE to give you the Window Sticker. How is the build sheet going to increase the value of MASS produced american car? I can see how it would be kind of cool to have, would not go out of my way for it though.

I havent torn mine apart to see........and if I had known I was getting her the day I watched her drive off the truck....Its one of those shoulda coulda things- but didn't.

I do have a huge book of stuff- the stickers, articles about the 05, magazines about it, the inside tags, the new car kits from back in summer, my article, ads, the brochure, the wishbook all in a giant scrapbook for someday.

It's actually one of the things I included on my prep sheet when I ordered the car .

1:Save all plastic and stickers /sheets

2:Take photo's of car before prep and off truck transport if possible (some get delivered at night).

3:no more than 50 km on car ( Just incase someone wants to take it for a joy ride)15km dealer prep and possible 35km for random factory test drive (will have factory window sticker showing this).

If you have a good dealer they should have no problem with any of this . B)

I should have tried that with mine. my dealer would have said "sure" and flipped the car for $5000 over what I paid for it

oh heck no. I wouldn't let anyone joyride in my car. I wouldn't even let the dealership drive it for the fillup on gas, or the service technicians "test" drive. They can ride in the passenger seat.

In terms of 'collectibles' for the car and the future, I think it's neat that the manual says "First printing - July '04" on the back. First new manual for the first totally redesigned Mustang - that should be pretty sweet a few decades down the line....

The 'foldout' (quick reference guide) they also give you that does the general overview of the interior features of the car is quite neat too - down in the same black and silver that the manual's cover is. Couple that with the really neato CD ROM going over the features of the car.....

In terms of stickers, I have the intact price sticker from the window - that's gone into my file for me car.

Then I would be crazy too, since I gave you the idea about the hard plastic laminate.

I got the window sticker, build sheet, and a factory inspection sheet.

I have kept everything. I even got a copy of the Certificate of Origin. I tried to keep the original, but they needed to send it to the state.
