Has anyone achieved 28mpg in HWY driving out there? Also, what are some ways to achieve better fuel economy? I understand the cars are tuned to burn richer out of the box. Is it just a matter of a retune, if one is concerned about this? Or are there some mods that can be made (cold air intake, etc..) to improve mpg?
Any info on this would be helpful. Running 87 certainly helps.

The engine runs rich at WOT, any other time the computer maintains 14.7:1 ratio. A tune WILL help the mpg however, because the engine is tuned to be more efficient, not just tuned to be lean. I sould also add, the tune WILL lean it at WOT as well.
Oh yeah, keep the go pedal off the floor.

There are plenty of ways to get better gas mileage. You could probably find sites on the net based on this subject alone. A few things I know off hand:
-don't drive with the windows down because of the poor aerodynamics with air coming into the car instead of over it, and in turn making the engine work harder to move the car
-obviously don't accelerate too hard
-try to come up to red lights slowler so that by the time you get there the light might be green so that you don't have to come to a complete stop (having to accelerate from a stop is going to obviously take more gas than if you are already in second or third gear)
-on the interstate, use the cruise control whenever you can, and also drive at 65-70 instead of 55-60 because you will take advantage of lower rpms while in overdrive (according to the owner's manual)

Right... of course, I don't follow any of the gas saving tips I just mentioned. Especially the second one. I didn't pay $30k for a 310+ HP V8 and spend hundreds more making it faster just to save money on gas by not taking advantage of it. I don't mind spending $30 a week on gas. If you want to save on gas, get a Prius.

I could swear i read in the owners manual thatdriving at 55mph uses 15% less fuel than 65mph
Driving at reasonable speeds (travelingat55mph[88km/h] uses 15%less fuel than traveling at 65mph [105km/h]).

Guys, thanks.. I had been going through the Edmund reviews and most of the neg's seemed to be on fuel economy. Just curious on real world numbers from the forum. Acadian has a point, though. If one wants better fuel economy, buy a Prius. Wish I could have both. Still in the decision mode on a purchase here.

I coulda swore I read that going faster saved mileage and that's why it stuck out in my head. Of course this was 6 months ago, so I guess I read it wrong back then or just didn't remember. Thanks for catching that though.
