05-09 Rocks!! Disappointed in 2010
"Get rid of the chamfored edges, tuck the lower bumper in a bit along with getting rid of all that ugly black, and make the light segments even and it will look OK."
Absolutely, well said. I know Ford was attempting to make the Stang look smaller, or more compact. But cutting off corners and generally scrunching up the back end, while at the same time attempting to add hips - well, it did not work well. Not in my opinion. Why did Ford feel they had to make the Mustang appear smaller? Heck, the Challenger and Camaro are monstrous when compared to a S197.

First GT500 I saw I thought the exact same thing- to me the 10 V6 nose is my favorite of the new ones - but still like the 05-09 gt500 better, but still yet, like the old bullitt even better yet...the bullitt was kinda 'basic/clean/simple' and to me was the best looking on the 5-9...the V6 pony was sharp too, but kinda needs a chin spoiler IMO...but hey- they are all 'definitely Mustangs' from a half mile away coming at you, and thats something that can only be said for a handful of cars today.
The only things I like from the '10 are the hips. The rest is an awkward front-end, and completely f*cked-up rear-end. Strange thing is that a lot of people who are not Mustang "enthusiasts" like the '10 design, which is not a bad thing for sales. I see them everywhere now, a lot more than Camaro and Challengers combined, which is good for Ford.
Wait to the 5.0 Coyote comes out and the *** will be forgotten. If the Evolution rumors are true they are saying it is 425hp but has dynoed at 468hp. This will be the baddest GT ever built.
We've been hearing rumors about new engines for so long I'm not holding my breath. Trading my 09 for a 11 would be financial suicide. It's too easy to slap a supercharger on there to go way beyond 425hp, best looks and good performance.
I hate to say it, but there is a brand spanking new GT500 here in the parking lot at work and I am totally turned off! The new body style just plain sucks in this application! I don't know about many of you, but as I look at the new GT500 I can't tell myself I would want to have that look ( it actually looks like a hatchbaclk from a certain angle!) Now I am still trying to scam body parts from a 05-09 GT500 which just sets the standard. What happened Ford? This new GT500 (and the whole 10 Mustang line) just smacks too much of Italy!
Bottom Line: the 05-09 Mustang may just become one of the all-time classic stangs thansk to this little fiasco...

I bought my '09 because I didn't like the back end of the '10. (The $4500 rebate didn't hurt either!) Like many others on here have said, the new front end is good, the new interior is fabulous, but the back is awful. And that hump on the rear fenders is straight off the Dodge Charger. Yuk. But, I think it's all relative. It's still, overall, a good looking car. And it's a WAY better car than either the Camaro or Challenger. IF Ford would've done something different with the back I'd probably own a 2010 now.

True statement, perhaps, for our household, as well. Our '07 has just 7,345 miles on the odometer, so trading it in on a 2010 doesn't make much sense. We paid cash straight up for the '07 as it sat on the showroom floor, so the $$$ isn't a factor. If the 2010 had the same rear as the 05-09 or something close to it, we would have considered trading.
As it is, though, the '07 GT is still new to us and the '10 has the ugly butt. Keep the 2007.

Yeah, she spends any bad weather days in the garage - for as long as the wife puts up with that! Drove it to work today, but that is only 4 miles from home. Gotta give my Toyota Highlander props. It is a trooper in all kinds of weather and performs admirably. I still get nervous parking the GT anywhere - I attempt to find spots that attract the least attention and away from most full parking spots. That is a Mustang lover phobia!
Our '07 has 3,400 miles...and it's looking for a new home! Too bad the value plummeted...HARD.
My '04 Lightning with 38,000 miles is worth the same amount, and they weren't very far apart in original purchase price.
Oh well!

The '10 reminds me of an Acura from behind. I also don't like the square+round vents. I REALLY like my eye-ball vents! Other than that, I love the interior, especially the navigation integration.
But all in all, I think I will be keeping my '05 for a long time!

. The black paint hides the cheap-looking flat black trim on the '10 GT. And then there is the black plastic Sirius "wart" on the decklid that should have been painted body color as well--or better yet been a cool-looking fin like those on some German and Japanese cars.
