05-09 Custom Parts Harder to find? And DG Custom Auto

I've only had my GT for about three weeks, but noticed that the aftermarket has started to ignore the 05-09's, seems to me this is where they should be puting their efforts.

When you can buy a used car cheap, you have more money to put into it to customize things. If I dropped 30K on a new GT, I'd have zero $$$ to add anything to it, but buy a 07 for 13K and suddenly I can do a whole bunch to it.

BTW, anybody know if DG Custom is still in business? I want three items from them, the textured plastic rear diffuser, the textured blackout with hole for rear emblem, and the textured taillight trim.

Seems all the suppliers out there where just having DG drop ship for them.

Hope some knows something.

Thanks
Randy

I don't see how you could possibly think that. What is it that you're looking for that you can't find? I think the amount of aftermarket support for '05-09 Mustangs is overwhelming.

Other than the DG stuff, nothing in particular, its just a general feeling I got as I started looking at things and some of the newer items were only for the current generation, or the same thing as the new gen but ours was more expensive for the same thing.

Can't put my finger on it, maybe its just the newness of the whole Genre.

I quite disagree with that assessment. There's a butt load of aftermarket parts available for the 05-09s. You still see newer stuff coming out all the time for them (the '13 style taillights just as an example).

Reading through many of the magazines may seem like that aftermarket companies are only focusing on the newer cars, but that's just a perception. Companies are making new parts for the newest cars, so those get the most play in the magazines so it leads to the perception that the older cars are getting ignored.

All right let me re-phrase that .

There's a bunch of cool stuff that is no longer being made since manufactures are focusing on the newer models and just let stock dwindle and then discontinue it or the complexity of the newer cars drives them out of business due to R&D costs.

Prove me wrong and find me an agent47 grille, Agent47 Lower ducts, DG Custom Rear Diffuser, Textured Blackout panel and textured taillight surrounds.

Just seems like everything I like is no longer available.

Yes there is some cool stuff out there, but economics seem to have killed a bunch too.

Mostly due to advertising dollars that companies spend. They are concentrating their efforts on the new stuff.

There were an awful lot of 2005 to 2009 Mustangs built. Aftermarket companies are not going to ignore such a potentially large market for their products.

It looks like DG Custom Auto has folded, that is why you can't find their Mustang parts. The 05-09 probably has the most aftermarket options of any car ever produced.

Agent 47 stuff:

Hmm, and that's why Agent 47 no longer sells the "no pony" GT grill? Just sayin

What I'm noticing is that its not that there's not a lot of aftermarket stuff, its that there used to be more.

I was trying to find a CS6 hood the other day thinking that I scored on a sale. The sale wouldn't go thru saying the hood insert was not available. I called up Shelby and I was told that the hood was no longer available. I was told it was because the google search still comes up for some reason. I was sad. This would have been a great first mod at an affordable price.

I have the agent 47 grill. If you want it I'll sell it you. The only thing is it's missing a clip but It still stays on. If anything I can make a small hole a provide a tie strip with it. Let me know. Comes with the emblem too.

There are some parts that are no longer available for sure.

I looked FOREVER for a Saleen Aluminum hood and finally found one, but I got extremely lucky.

I feel ya.

Well, I guess if your patient and if theres a will, theres a way.

DG Custom Auto:
I was able to contact Vince at DG Custom, and he had the parts I wanted laying around still. Gave me great pricing. He's a little slow to respond, but thats undertandable this is not his bread and butter anymore, its now a liqiudation.

The Agent 47 grill:
mptant913had a used grill that he has now sold me, so the grill is now taken care of.

We are making proggress, but as I said, I guess I'm abaout a year or more late in my purchase of a Mustang which does in fact limit what is available, compared to what was available.

But searching and preserverance eventually pays off.
