That's the weight per gallon I was basing my figures off of after researching what gasoline weighs from a variety of different sources. There can be some variation, but it is practically always between 6 and 7 lbs per gallon.

I checked Exxon Mobil's MSDS for 87 unleaded several years ago and the specific gravity for their gasoline was about 6.67+ lb per gal (as you mentioned that it does vary somewhat).

However if you subtract 127lbs. from Shawn's 3530lb curb weight. My 2005 GT. should have a curb weight of 3403 lbs.

I'm a little skeptical of that 127 lb weight gain from 2006-2007. The numbers Five Oh Brian posted from Ford were the shipping weights, which Ford says are the curb weights minus 131 lbs for the 4.6L Mustangs. It would be interesting to see two similarly optioned Mustangs from before and after the weight gain on the same scales to see what the real world difference is.

Keith, are you sure the numbers that Brian posted from the Ford sourcebook, were the shipping weights ?
Because according to what Brian told me, the 3315lb weight listed on my title, is the shipping weight.

The numbers I have for 2005 Mustangs are 3356 lbs for shipping weight and 3487 lbs for curb weight (manual trans) for a deluxe GT and 3375 lbs and 3506 lbs for a premium GT.

Rocky & Keith, I double checked the weights that I quoted from the Ford Source Books for 2005-2008 Mustang GT weights (see post #5 above), and Ford labeled them as "Base Model Curb Weights."
The shipping weight that is printed on the invoice of each vehicle is not really for that specific car, but the non-optioned base model of that trim (i.e. GT Deluxe Coupe Manual). For example, we get a lot of Mustang GT automatic coupes with a ton of different options on each, yet every invoice says the exact same shipping weight even though those Mustangs each weigh dozens of pounds apart from each other. The shipping weight on every 2008 Mustang GT automatic coupe invoice (deluxe model and premium model, FYI) that I looked at today was 3,398 lbs, but the Ford Source Book says the Base Model Curb Weight is 3,532 lbs (134 lb difference from shipping to curb weights).

The 2-page pdf file I have was sent to me by a friend a couple of years ago. I wasn't sure of its origins, but I did some searching and discovered it was part of the 2005 "Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Specifications" manual, and found it is available online at:

Ford usually doesn't provide us dealers with specific weights for different options on passenger cars, but we do get them for full-size trucks so that we can calculate payload & towing capabilities correctly for customers.

I did find another document online that lists curb weights for 2007 Mustangs (this one appears to be from Ford......correct me if I'm wrong), and there seems to be a disparity in the weights it lists for manual vs auto equipped Mustangs. For GT coupes, it shows the auto Mustang as weighing 184 lbs more (3540 vs 3356 lbs) but the GT convertible only getting a 45 lb weight penalty for the auto trans (3657 vs 3612 lbs):

I did some more searching through the 2005 MVMS manual I posted earlier, and it shows that the Tremec 3650 manual trans weighs 122.5 lbs, while the 5R55S auto trans weighs 174 lbs, a difference of a little over 50 lbs. Anyone actually weighed their transmission? A weight difference of 184 lbs does seem a little high to me, but I've been wrong before.

With all the mods you've done (big wheels and blower, especially), your car weighs more than it did from the factory anyway. However, it should have originally weighed about 3,400 lbs, give or take a few.

I have my own corner scales so I can find out exactly what my cars weigh, and not depend on educated guesses or documentation which may or may not be correct. Anyone in the central Ohio area is welcome to come by and use my scales to weigh their car, I've weighed a number of friend's Mustangs on my scales, but the only S197 so far has been my own.

Thanks guys. I have a very clear idea and/or have weighed all my add ons and direct replacement aftermarket parts, so that list is accurate, I've just never seen a consistant weight listed for my car in the magazines and Ford materials for my car 06" Mustang GT coupe premium pkg minus subwoofer.
I saw a very exact listing of the 06' coupe in a magazine article saying the 06" premium package coupes should range from 3484-3515, so minus the sub woofer (18lbs or so) I've figured that my starting curb weight was about 3495, and I've added and subtracted aftermarket weights from their.
My supercharger install with larger intercooler and coolant, minus the stock parts that come off, is an added 84lbs or so, my heavier wheels are 26lbs front, 27lbs rear, so that's an added 10lbs from my 24lb Ford 64w's that came with the car.
Also subtracting weight for direct replacement aftermarket suspension parts (all weighed compared to stock) and then adding the weight of added suspension parts such as STB, G-trac bar, Shock tower brace, welded very light Steeda chasis braces(12lbs) plus a few others.
So my math from 3495lbs up has always put me at about 3625lbs total.
But now, if you guys agree that my car actual listed curb weight starts at about 3400lbs, that's great news!!! That puts me at about 3530lbs with my current mods.
At 474rwhp (545 flywheel) with a weight of 3530lbs or so, and good traction, no wonder I've been smoking these heavier coupes, the dodges, the Mercedes, BMW's, C-6's, Audi's. All the competition is either heavier or less powerful. Plus my car corners like a dream. This explains a lot.
Anyone, please confirm you believe my starting weight should be about 3400lbs for an 06" premium pkg without subwoofer. Thank you very much guys, Erik

I always weigh my cars on our local Department of Transportation weigh stations along Interstate 5 where the trucks have to stop to get weighed. I go after hours when they're closed. The scales are still on, but there's no trucks to get in the way of. The state of Washington claims the truck scales are accurate to within 20 lbs (and they only read in 20 lb increments).
I suspect you could go to the truck scales along any stretch of interstate freeway anywhere in the country and weigh your car. Then you can stop wondering what your car weighs and know for sure.
