What do I need?
#1
I am looking to purchase an exhaust system to make my 99 GT sound mean.
I was looking to buy this, http://www.mustangtuning.com/slpexhaust.html
Now is this all I need to have that great sound and be emissions legal, or do I have to buy more?
Also I dont think my other thread is working cuz i can't get into it

I was also looking to get this instead, as I hear that Borla is good and has life-time warranty.
Borla Exhaust
Again same question as above.

I would either use the Magnaflow, Borla or Bassani. All these will give you a different sound. The Borla is the loudest out of the three. Next would be the Bassani then Magnaflow. The Bassani has a removable pack out of the tail pipe if you want it louder. Price wise The Bassani is the most expensive then Borla and next would be Magnaflow. After installing one of these cat-backs and you would still like it louder you can install an X pipe with cats. This will keep you legal also.
What ever you do, do not use the Mac Pro chamber. It will shake the fillings out of your teeth.

A Catback is defintely going to wake the sound of your car up, but what really makes it loud is replacing the mid-pipe (i.e. getting rid of the 4 catalytic convertors.) going with an o/r pipe is by far the loudest.
Catbacks do give hte car an increase and sound and much more aggressive tone. I prefer magnaflows. Quiet when driving, but really wake up when you get on teh gas. Borla is awesome stuff as well but $$$. if you want that classic mustang sound, you cant beat flowmasters.

sorry.. if you keep your stock mid-pipe, you will be emissions legal, but cops may harass you about sound. Sounds like jsut a cat-back is your best bet at this point. The SLP is nice, but I still like magnaflow and borla

i love borlas and i think was thinking of a custom exaust with mufflers from a 2001 cobra on a stock exaust would sound good
by the way the slp is very very very loud and i wouldnt get it if the cars your daily driver and your neighbors will hate you for it

I know some of you will think I was an idot but it sounded good with the stock hpipe on my 00gt and that was I had 1chamber flowmasters welded in. I wouldnt do them with tailpipes without the cats it would sound horrible but with the 4 cats it actually sounded pretty good.

Its not crazy.. I honestly prefer the sound of a car with cat's, but the stock mid-pipe is defintely a performance hinder.

Wow thanks guys for the opinions and help... im still deciding on either Borla or Magnaflows but yea I might keep my stock mid pipe for a while until I can afford a new one... I will just put the stock one on I guess for when I have to go for an emissions test, am I right that we all do this?

BTW, Borla (ie. Stingers) are LOUDER than Magnaflow and Bassani?

Thanks for the info scott! So the stinger is the Borla XR1. What's the difference between XR1 and XS?
Also, by your info, the stinger is pretty loud. Humm.....
If I go aftermarket for the 05, I definately want to hear it, but I will kill myself if it ends up driving me crazy in the car.
Most who have driven the new car say it sounds like it has "American Thunders" on in from the inside already.
Gotta wait and see I guess.

Im getting new catbacks within the next couple of months, either steeda or borla. I've heard a lot of good things about borla but does anyone here have steeda? I just need some opinions.

Btw guys on my 00gt I went from 1chambers and factory hpipe to offroad hpipe and mac mufflers to flowmaster mufflers. The macs just sounded like an old truck going down the road but at wot those were some nasty sounding mufflers. If I had to do it again. I would go with Bassani xpipe and magnaflow mufflers. Then you dont have the tooth chipping interior sound.

So I don't start another thread........I have stock headers and a Flowmaster Force II Catback system. What kind of x-pipe should I get and it needs to have cats because I'm gonna stay legal. Thanks.
