What brake pads is everyone using?
#1
I will need new pads up front soon and was wondering what everyone is using?
Its a bit overwhelming. I mean there are $15 pads from Autozone, which I won't get. But I've heard their $40 Performance Friction semi-metallic pads are good.
Then NAPA has semi-metallics for like $65.
O'Rielly has Wagner semi's for like $50 with a lifetime warranty.
Then there's the fan of Hawk Pads which are probably $70 to $90 depending on what kind you get.
Of course there are EBC Greenstuff fans, Brembo fans, stillen fans, etc.
I've considered getting Motorcraft pads though, as they have lasted me over 50,000 miles, but they seem to warp the rotors bad (which I will need new ones also).
I don't care about racing anymore, so I just want some good pads that don't cost an arm and a leg, that will last a long time. I'd prefer less dust.
Any thoughts on ceramic pads also? I've heard 50% of people say they are great, less dust, easy on rotors, etc, but the other 50% said they stink when they are cold, good for racing but not street, make noise and are harsh on rotors.
any help is appreciated.

Hawk pads are awesome.
You dont want ceramic pads on your stock rotors Lee, it'll eat em in a week of daily driving.
I am running the Raybestos Red pads which are guaranteed for life. They are a semi-metallic I got at westwood autoparts. Basically I keep teh box and receipt and I can take them in whenever I want and they swap for free. Its kinda nice since I tend to roast brakes and cause hairline cracks through the pad surface. They are really decent pads especaily for a DD.
