I don't know about the rest of you guys but it really erks me when dealers try to sell standard 99 GT's as 35th anniversary SE's. The sad part is most people will fall for it. This is just one example:

It is a nice car but it is misleading. .
When I went to the one dealership and looked at a standard GT the dealer argued with me until he was blue in the face that it was the special edition and that was why he wanted 13,500 for the car. Needless to say I didn't go back there again!

should have the 35th anniversary edition 17" wheels...and as for Special Edition i think hes just trying to get more $, anniversary edition yes special edition no

yeah, i have seen that. i mean all 99 mustangs have the 35th anniversary badge on the fenders. but that doesnt make them special. i see that all the time on the V6's for sale. FOR SALE 35TH ANNIVERSARY MUSTANG. then the picture is a base stripped down V6

I've given up worrying about those ads, as longs as it say 35th Anniversary Mustang and not 35th "Special Edition" or "Limited Edition" I let it go. I have corrected to many people in the past, but it never seems to help. Ford dropped the ball on that particular little item in 1999. Same way in 2004.

See, there was so much hype over the redesign at the time that the "Limited" got pushed to the side. I only knew about them due to a club member being a salesman(one of the knowedgable ones). I'm suprised close to 5000 sold due to all the miscommunications dealers were sending out.
When I went looking in late Sept. 1999, I really was looking for a base 17 inch wheel/cloth GT in white or silver. The dealer I was at only had a "Limited". I knew what it was, and the MSRP($25,000+) was outta my league. But, they really wanted to move it. It had been sitting on the lot since mid July(close to year model closeout), so I told them that if they took the price of the option off(-$2600) + $500 loyalty cash, I'd think about it. About ten minutes later, they came out and took the offer $22,400
Took her home an hour later.

well, I have a 40th Anniv. SE (the crimson one) GT, and the first moment I spoke to someone after getting to my apartment complex tried to argue w/ me that his '04 GT was a "special edition", too. He's a massive tool. I explained it to him that all '04's received the badge, but I could see that his Cro-Magnon brain was about to explode. I later found out that his car is really a V6 that he made up to look like a GT. Again, he's a massive tool.
