Thumbs up

does anyone have a 100% correct answer? also, anyone know of a decoder out there where i could input the vin# of a 99+ and it will decode everything off the data plate like they have for older stangs? i did that for my 66FB way back and it showed me all the options and stuff that came w\my car by the vin and data plate info. thanks guys!

ps - i ask because i dont want a T3650 tranny, heard about how they like to grind, and i just dont like the synchro feel to it when shifting...call me old fashion...im just used to the T5's and the T45's are fairly close

Check the warranty label on the driver's door. Under "TR" (for transmission code):
K is TR3650
6 or 5 is T45

Or you could just check to see what year model. 99 and 00 had t45 01's came with 3650. Personally I liked the 3650 I replaced my t45 with better. It shifted smoother in high rpms.

The 3650 has a small problem on startup when the air temperature gets cooler. After a couple of minutes of driving, its shifts fine.

TTC automotive (parent company of Tremec) had a fix on their site about using a different fluid at one time, but I don't see it there anymore.

Ford just recently released a TSB for the 3650 grind. There's a long thread about it on the stangnet 4.6 tech forum.

Hola mad!

Just to clarify - in 2001, the 3650 was a mid-year switch from the T45 - best to check the door code if it concerns you. The 99-00 cars used T45's.
