i installed this steeda shifter in my 99 GT when im shifting it's hard to find the right gear. the dude i got it from said it was for a 99 well i took it out today to figure out if i have the right one the model number on the bottom is 997-1058 does anyone know this #. i mesured the shaft and ball thingy that rides in the plastic thingy in the trans that plastic bushing is wore out and was not like that before the install the steeda is a 16th or more shorter than the stock shifter. any help would be great.

Was the shifter new? And if not what year Mustang did it come out of? The part number you listed does not match the Steeda #'s on their website.

i look up those numbers to and had little luck matching them on the bottom plate the numbers are 997-0158 on the top the number is 997-0102 is there a number for steeda i can call to check this out. its suppose to be for a 99 thats what i was told.

Off-hand I do not have a number, but (maybe you already have) go to steeda.com. Keep us updated.

I have this shifter, but do nto recognize these numbers.... hmmm. did you buy it used?

well i called steeda with these numbers and they said this was the rite shifter for a 99 GT. i found the problem today it was the bushing it was wore out so i bought a new one and that did the job all tha for a $6.00 part well live and learn it seems to be working fine now i can go find that stang i raced saturday nite when i missed 2nd i wont miss it agian thanks for all the help..larlar
