I once heard that using synthetic oil would void your factory warranty, I've read the warranty and all the fine print and haven't seen anything that would indcate that it would. Anyone have experice with this?

Also - for those of you guys that do use synthetic what type do you use. I was leaning towards Mobil 1 - but also was looking at the Castrol Syntec - they have that 5-20 spcifically for Ford and Honda.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I have read on mach1registry.com that 0W20 will NOT void factory warrenty. Mobil 1 has a synthetic, as well as others. I went to autozone over the weekend, but they didn't have 0W20. I will look elsewhere.

I am by no means an expert, but I have been trying to find as much as possible on the topic.

I think Motorcraft (almost 100% sure) has a 5W20 Synthetic Blend.

I have been buying the Motorcraft 5-20 synthetic at Auto Zone and have seen it at other parts houses too. It's cheaper than Mobile 1 and is what the dealer uses and what Ford recommends.

it's cheaper than Mobil 1 synthetic because the Motorcraft 520 is a synthetic blend, not a full synthetic. However they do make 530 in a full synth i believe.

I was told that if you use the Motorcraft Filter FL820S, they don't really care if you use Syn. or not. I use Mobil 1 5w30 full synthetic with the Motorcraft FL820S oil filter. I change my oil every 4000 miles. Was never turned down for warranty work.

Ford has both a synthetic and a sythetic blend that they sell. The full synthetic is near impossible to find though.
