Hey guys, I've got a fog lamp out on the '01. Last time this happened I took it to the local Ford dealer who charged me a fortune and replaced the whole assembly. So I had one brand-new fog lamp and one discolored two-year-old fog lamp and the car looked lazy-eyed driving down the road. The Ford dealer says they can't replace just the bulb; they have to replace the whole $99 + Labor assembly. And it looks retarded if I just replace one, so I end up spending $300+ to replace both fog lamp assemblies because one stupid bulb is out.

Can you replace just the bulb in the fog lamp without replacing the whole thing?

Yes the bulb can be replaced without any tools and I can usually do it in about a minute per side. If the lense was discolored, then yes it would need to all be replaced, but just hte bulb, thats a simple replacement and easily done.

Yeah, i believe most parts stores would have the bulb, like car quest or autozone, their should be a code just for that bulb.

headlight bulb is 9007 as well if you were curious. Also at autozone, the Sylvania SilverStar bulbs look really good for fogs and headlights, they are also stock wattage so they wont burn up wires like higher wattage ones.

They lied to you about not being able to replace just the bulb, Brad. When I did a state inspection to Pearbear's old '99 Roush clone he had one foglight out and all I had to do was twist the socket 1/4 turn and pull it out...

So if I'm correct:
Headlight: 9007
Sidemarker/Turn signal: 3157 NA
Fog Light: 893

I just snagged some Sylvania Silverstars for the turn signals...I need to see if I can find the headlights cheaper at a Wal-mart or something.

Yea, it has a pearl coating, and a hint of amber. When the bulbs are activated, they flash amber and not white. They are DOT approved, so the Police........and State inspectors will give the .

Great for any clear or smoked light.

Yea, I did a little photoshoot Labor Day weekend while doing my headlight switch. From my fogged 2000s to smoked and orange.

I'm considering returning the Silverstar turn signal bulbs. They were $20 at O'Reilys(one part Wal-mart doesn't carry).

The problem was.......they work better on a car where the turn bulb is more visible. If you had all clear or all smoke they'd look great. Seeing as how I went with smoke and orange.....it wouldn't make too much difference. I still have a couple days to think about it though.
