Hey I was just wondering if anyone here knew if the shaker system from Classic Design Concepts - http://www.classicdesignconcepts.com/catal...isplay/460.html - comes with a new hood with the cut out for the shaker scoop? Or do you have to cut your factory hood? How hard is this kit to install?

Then my other question is if the Cold Air Intake kit that they make for the Mach 1 Mustangs will work for this kit?

Thanks for your help.

Sup. Been doing some research of my own on this. From what I have gathered from reading forums and the Shaker Hood Package is that it does not include a hood and would have to buy another one and paint it or cut into your existing one. Second is that this is the Mach 1 Shaker Scoop set up so yes the Cold Air Intake will work.

If you are looking for a good look it will definitely turn heads from what I have been told if you puting this on a GT but only gives you good HP while moving but I am sure you konw that. If you dont want to spend the $1200 bucks you can do what I am doing. I just bought the March Ram Air Kit wich adds a scoop just below the bumper and feeds directly into the existing intake. They make them for Fox bodys to 2004 Stangs. Here is the link: http://www.mustangtuning.com/maramairki9g.html

It does the exact same thing as the Shaker Scoop and self installable but just not as flashy and only sets you back $140.

In all, if you can afford the Shaker Scoop I would do it just cause it is different and pretty to have. But if you are experimenting, like I am, to see if you can feel a difference in HP on open road I would try the March Ram Air kit.( I would much rather have the Shaker Scoop but saving money for a Heads and Cam package instead)

Good luck
Jay

A ram air system that bolts on would be much more cost effective .

The Mach 1 scoop looks great but it will only add about 3-7 hp to your Stang. Besides the look its really not worth the money to me. You'd be better off saving your money on other mods.

Is it realistic to cut your own hood? Or are you better off taking it to a shop to cut it for you?

It all falls down to how confident you are and how much detail you put into it. But I would really recommend taking it to a shop just so it looks right. Especially if you have limited metal cutting experience.

The hoods are fiberglass ......but good advice...if you screw it up, YOU pay for it....if the shop screws it up...THEY pay for it. But generally a competent shop should have no problem doing the work for you.

I agree with Paul. This is something that you should have professionally done. You may pay more now to do it but may save a lot of time and money compared to making a mistakes yourself

Kar Kraft sells a complete factory shaker system for around $575. It comes with special brackets that mount to a 2V motor. You still need to buy a Mach 1 hood though. I went the cheap route. I found a person selling a Mach 1 hood for $200. That came with the insulation and shaker ring. I got a shaker setup on eBay for $400 and bought the special brackets from Kar Kraft for $150. I also have a friend that owns a body shop. He painted my hood for nothing. I know it doesn't add much more HP, but it really adds a cool look to the car.

It certainly is the best looking mod there is out there.
