s/c question

So I just purchased a vortech v2 for my 00 gt. Someone just happen to tell me they were running the same set up on he 2000 gt and said they kept busting he freeze plug on the manifold. They said it was because of the plastic upper manifolds that come on these 99-01 gts. Has anyone on here ever had this happen to them? Or ever heard anything like this cause this is the first time ive ever heard this??

Not sure if the PI intakes have freeze plugs, but IIRC, the (earlier) PI intake manifolds are known to be weak in the coolant transfer tube area because they are plastic. Probably the reason Ford revised the part with a aluminum coolant transfer tube.
Have seen/heard of a few people having problems with the earlier "all plastic" PI intake manifold - coolant leaks. They usually switch over to the revised part or use a all aluminum aftermarket piece. Those might be worth considering since you are going with forced induction.

Hmm okay so which aftermarket intake would you recommend if I decide to go with an aftermarket one. Cause I might just pull one off of a later year stang

Apparently using the Ford Racing version M-9424-P46 (plastic) requires a 2001+ alternator bracket or you could mod your car's bracket. But, it still can break where the heater hose attaches. The good news, is they can be had for around $200 or so.
As for the all-aluminum intake manifold option, depends on your planned mods and how high you're going to rev it. Be forewarned, they are kind of spendy. The Typhoon manifold seems hit or miss quality wise. The Edelbrock Victor Jr. is nice, but is geared more toward high RPM performance gains at some cost to the low end. The Trickflow intake manifold is a bit on the $$$ side, but more of a bolt on proposition. If you can find a complete '01 Bullitt intake manifold and all the supporting parts (required) $$$$, it would work fine too. Know there are other choices out there. Perhaps other members here can chime in with their experiences.
