A Christmas Carol (03 Cobra vs. Evolution Lancer)

Twas the night before Christmas and out on the street,
Nothing was moving, not even a Jeep.
All was still with nothing in sight,
Then what to my wandering eyes did I see,
But a Mustang SVT alone at a light.
The moonlight glistened off my wing, oh so gay.
My import was ready to show ‘em the way.
I had some NOS on my tiny motor,
I would beat that stang with its Eaton supercharger.
I pulled along side and revved up with a fart,
Pointed to the wing on my gay shopping cart.
The light turned green, I was off like a jolt,
While the SVT filled the night sky with smoke.
I called to my EVO’s 4 pistons,
On basher, on crasher, on smasher, and the one knocking,
Onward faster let’s finish the slaughtering.
The engine did rev, I was ready for action,
But just at that moment the Mustang caught traction.
With a grin on his face, and a gleam in his eye,
Like a shot from a cannon the SVT went by.
He blew by so fast, he spun me round twice.
I knew at that moment I was freshley fried rice.
He held up one finger as he drove into the night,
All I saw was dimming taillights.
But I heard him exclaim as he roared outta sight
“You stupid ricer, you can’t beat Blue Oval dynamite”

I hate most rice out there as much as the next Mustang owner. But I do have respect for Evos... I got to test drive one last week and it was very nice, and very very fast. Granted I haven't driven an '03 Cobra yet... I'd still bet it'd be a fairly close race.

I agree that you can respect cars like the EVO, WRX, and S2000's. Those are performance cars. It's the people who have the Civics, Corollas, etc who put a coffee can on the exhaust and say, "it's so much faster now". Then they slap about $300 in stickers all over the car. Love the Christmas carol.

Yep, thats exactly what I'm talking about.

I used to love racing them and beating the crap out of them in my V6.

Haven't ran into any yet with my new GT. B)

You are in for so much fun with the mods. One of the best things about Mustangs are parts are everywhere and they are cheaper then imports. I had a 99 Eclipse and got rid of it because of that, it would cost a fortune to get it up to a Mustang GT level, and I was feeling a bit old to be hanging out with import tuner folk. Mustangs are the best bang for the buck when they are used.

The imports all have wicked wicked low torque numbers. I think the only thing they will beat a cobra in is cornering.
(Less powerslides, due to the lack of power)

not to mention the torque curves stink. The mustang makes its power at low revs, and imports such as the EVO have to be almost to redline to make their numbers.

MM&FF got a 12.2 out of a stock 03 cobra vert. With stock tires. They have run 11s with the coupe. and the cobra makes its power around 2200rpm. I have seen many dynos. B)

PS- I like your name. LOL

The fastest time I've seen in a magazine is Motor Trend's 12.6.

Muscle Mustang & Fast Fords, I abbreviated it to MM&FF. Thats where I saw the times. The 12.6 from motor trend shows alot. motor trend doesnt powershift and they dont know how to drive a mustang (drag racing style) they also dont use slicks. The 03 vert ran a 12.2 on street tires in MM&FF. Thanks for the concern. I would not believe it ehthier. fast car for being stock

I have no respect for evo's ---drive an 03 and you will see why--I too respected the evo at one point then i drove an 03 and ended up buying it I have raced WRX STI'sand believe you me if you can get traction in an 03 cobra you will spank them hands down(THE KEY BEING TRACTION)

yah, i have said the same. Good choice of words. The 03 in my choice needs a ford 9 inch with 4.88 gears and 30x12.5 slicks and skinnies with a solid rear axle/drag suspension in the back.

ok, now you're just being flatout facetious. a stock 03 vert will run no where NEAR 12.2 on STREET tires. and a stock 03 coupe will not hit 11's on STREET tires. I ran my slightly modded cobra, against a bone stock 04 vert which had bfg drag radials. my best of the day was 12.82, and the 04 was 13.3. Yeah, I'm sure you know more about driving than Motor Trend. You can powershift all day, and you'll never get an 11. You need to seriously stop posting blatant lies, just for attention and posting mulitple times in a row just to raise your post count. I know this is a 'nice' forum and everything, and we arent supposed to criticize, but try to post the same stuff over at SVTperformance.com and see if they're as nice.....

wow, thats been a long time coming.
