Rebuild or swap?

My engine is getting to end of its life and I'm not sure on rather to rebuild or swap. I'm not worried about resale on the car. The mechanic says they found metal shavings in my oil.

would seem like a rebuild would be cheaper, but a swap has endless possibilities. I know the new 5.0 can be shoehorned in there!

if you rebuild it yourself it will probably cost you around 3k give or take. Do you hear a rod knocking? How many miles do you have on it?

What does a rod knocking sound like? I hear something knocking and it's constant. An it has ~146k on it.

Possibly a rod if its constant. It would be somewhat loud and noticable. What year is it? I wouldnt worry much about resale. Mostly because these body styles arent very desirable (I too have one). Rebuild would be cheaper but a wild swap would be cool also. I'd rebuild and while your at it do some mods too it since you'll be in there, heads and such. And what you do depends on what motor you have.

I just rebuilt my 00gt and every part I looked at as far as mods go was not worth the extra coin to me. Of course it might be a different story on a cobra engine but I dobt it.

It rebuild I would not rebuild it myself. I would have my close friend and his dad rebuild it cause they crazy about mustangs and won't hit me hard on prices.

Found an 03 cobra donor car. What all would it take to swap from it to mine?

Not much if you have the entire drivetrain from the cobra. You need the trans and the irs would be a nice addition for the ride quality and such. I think you can even use your cars engine wiring harness. Should be pretty straight forward.
