A dry nitrous system would get you there with the least hassle. Most Mustangers look down on nitrous, though, and doing things N/A or with more conventional power adders (s/cs or turbos) seem to be more of the norm.

As long as you aren't pushing a ridiculous shot of nitrous your innards should be fine, just make sure you get a tune to match it.

I would say getting the normal bolt ons done first would be the best choice. Cold air intake, underdrive pullies, etc. Once all the normal things are done, whatever you choose to do next will do more for you.

i may do the nitrous in the end for a little extra, but for now do you think a CAI, UDP, exhaust, headers, and a tune will get it to 300whp?

that won't get you 300, i think the cheapest way in the long run to hit that power is some bolt-ons and a supercharger the 99-up Mustangs love boost keep a conservative tune and you can run 300+hp with a very street friendly car.

Another possibility is that there are new aftermarket heads for the 2V 4.6 i'm not sure of the power gains but it should put you close to your 300HP goal.

So with what I mentioned, what type of power do you think I would see?

only way your getting to 300rwhp all motor is full bolt ons and cams..which is going to be about $4 grand.

with what you said, probably 250rwhp. Full bolt on GT's usually only see 260-270rwhp.

On mUstang forums under the pipe bosst & juice section they have a sticky called the $1500 supercharger Kit, Which shows you how to get a Vortech Superhcarger and everything you need to install it for $1500.

Another option is nitrous, you can run a 100 shot without a dyno tune. everything including the window switch, bottle heater etc will run you about a grand..

You want 300whp NA, you should include changing the heads/cams as part of the plan. One of the local Mustang club members has a car with the Patriot Stage 2 heads with Comp cams (scored those for cheap somehow) along with stock intake and exhaust parts bolt-on mods. Without a tune it put out 289hp/307tq on a very warm day at close to sea level (if that matters). Those new TW 4.6 2V heads and intake manifold combo look promising.

Do yourself a favor and look at a 99 or 01 Cobra before you make up your mind. They might be cheaper than you think. I was looking for a replacement for my 2006 GT after it was wrecked and was just going to get a GT. After talking to a few folks who pointed me to an svt specific forum, in short time, I was in a 99 Cobra for just a couple grand more than a GT and am a lot further along than I would have been in a GT. The '01 has the nicer interior, but if you get a '99 that has had the factory "fix" done, you should be at the advertised 320 hp. Guys are getting 300+ rwhp with simple bolt-ons.

Just a thought, and possibly a great option in this buyer's market!
