my moms trhinkin bout gettin headers and an exhaust for sure on our 01 cobra....i was suggesting glasspacks because how loud they are or flomasters or any good brand of glass pack style mufflers.my dad said glass packs are too loud so i told him to drive with ear plugs in.now the header issue, he said they get too hot and warp every piecve of metal near it even with the ceramic coated ones, yes this is a daily driven cobra and wanted to know what good exhaust and headers to get or i coulhd get a good x or h pipe

dont get glasspacks, they may be loud, but they sound like garbage. headers will be very difficult to do, and expensive if you have a shop do it. I would go with a nice Basanni catted H pipe and exhaust.

Borla Stingers, Bassani Catted X pipe, Long tube bassani headers. Thats my descision, but if u want to have a shop do it and dont wanna spend a fortune, then dont go with headers.
glasspacks are horrible sounding and belong on a camaro, i highly doubt they will melt all sorts of metal because if true, the cars with open headers would melt oil pans and suspension pieces.

On a otherwise stock Cobra, the headers will not melt anything. The only thing I have heard getting melted on headers was the occasional stray plug wire. You dad either dont know what he is talking about of is full of it.

Glass packs sound like crap. If you want the cobra to sound like some rednecks pickup truck, or like some teenager screwed up a otherwise good sounding car, then go for it.

Headers arent going to be worth the money it would cost to get them installed.

Go with a good midpipe and catback. Listen to several different setups, and figure out which one you like the best. If the answer is still glasspacks, please consult a physician.

headers on a cobra or GT is very hard. and usually not worth the large cash outlay for a shop unless you do alot of racing at the track and need the extra power. i would stick to a highflow Xpipe and quality catback exhaust.

bassani
borla
magnaflow

are all good companies. they are on the higher end of the price scale. but are also the better quality also. i try to stick to one manufacturer system for each car. that way you know you wont have any major fitting problems from mix matched kits. and the headers wont warp or melt anything(except for plug wires when your holder breaks)and never heard of any problems with ceramic coated at all. stainless headers w/o the coating will discolor and not look as nice but still work just fine. had all BBK on my 86 for 6 years before i sold it and have mac on my 92 now. and havent had any problems

This is my opinion ofcourse....

PLEASE don't get glasspacks.....Glasspacks = Chevy truck! They sound AWFUL especially on a 4.6. I and everyone I know cringes when a car or truck goes by with glasspacks and the comments that follow are always not complimentary in nature.

i agree with everyone else, don't get glasspacks.

sure they are cheap, but that's what high school kids do when they don't know any better. Loud does not = good sound.

I spent about 3 months trying to figure out what I wanted and ended up with a full Basanni Catted X Pipe exaust and love it. Not too loud but definitely DEEP and makes a statment WOT.

Glass packs just were not an option for me.
