I have had both of the MAC CAI's. The fenderwell mount and the new Straight Shot. Both are a pain to get to if you need to replace the filter later but the fenderwell mount was a major pain with the car lowered.

What CAI's do you have, are they easy to install and change the filters?

I'm looking at the K&N set up right now, anyone got one?

I have the K&N FIPK. It was an easy install, only drilled for one screw on the heat shield.

I've seen The Rock's setup and it is nice. Im currently running a C&L Trueflow inlet pipe and a open air filter on my MAF. Its a nice setup as well.

I'm running a MAC CAI. I don't run my Stang that often anymore so cleaning hasn't been a problem. I particularly like how our 5.0 versions look.

I have the Tuneable Induction cai from www.demolet.com In my opinion it is the best cai on the market. I got the meter-forward for $130 shipped to my door. The filter is in the fenderwell so it stays cooler than stock. I did feel a little sotp gain and it did seem to make the exhaust tone a little deeper. Installation did take a little while, but nothing near impossible. Also dressed up the engine bay nicely. I highly reccomend it!

Scott, do you have a picture of yours? I'm sure the setup is different for my GT but it might give me an idea. I went to their webpage and it looks like they just sell you the pipe? No filter or box to surround it?

I didn't see anything in K&N's instructions about drilling. That would be a first for me with a CAI.

You can get their MAF kit which has the maf, filter, heat sheild. I dont run that as I dont run their maf, but I made a way for my stock air filter to bolt up to my maf without the air box. Its crude so I dont recommend it. http://www.jlttruecoldair.com has an adapter and filter and shield kit to mount to the stock MAF. Then couple that with the C&L Maf to TB tube and it should be a nice setup. I am thinking about getting the adapter from JLT.

FYI: This picture is when I had the C&L Maf and filter and heat shield on.. none of that is there, the trueflow pipe is though.

Looks nice after all the work. I just like all the pieces to work out of the box, you know what I mean?

Yeah. I am acctually contacting the guy from JLT to see what is available as far as the maf adapter. I think this alternative would work great in my situation, but the full JLT kit may be best for you

sorry I don't have a better pic, but one goes directly into the fenderwell, and the other bracket(facing down) is not pre-drilled. Although it is optional. I don't guess you'd have to drill it.

What is this? I've never heard of the K&N Typhoon model. It's about 50 bucks more. Anyone?

Dunno. The only thing I see right off, is that the intake tube is metal, and not plastic.

Well, it looks like I'll be going with the MAC Straight Shot. I talked to a buddy of mine and then it was confirmed in the most recent issue of "Mustang Enthusiast".......Install the shield and filter pieces first and then the rest. I was stupid and followed the instructions installing the shield and filter last, it was not a fun install.
