I did this with thin plates. Made good HP and a easy assembly.
I did not buy the $650 kit. I bought a manifold for under 200, coolant tube-$25 and gaskets PI and non-PI. Thermo o-ring and 2-small o-rings for the col. tube.
The thin plates use the original bolts and do not creat a hood clearance issue.
I even have a tower brace on the car.
the plates are still on e-bay $100

they had an article in MMFF. and they got like 20 HP and 15 FT/LBS not bad i say.
