Now THAT's a bent rod

All this time the Bullitt's been down, I knew the root cause was a bent rod, which I had seen with my own eyes by looking up into the cylinder when the oil pan had been removed. I could see a slight bend, but I had no idea it was quite this bad. I also never noticed the damage to the piston...

Note to self: Don't mess with water. ever.

One heck of a bend! Good thing you caught that. Any damage to the cylinder itself?

None that is visible, but the block will be getting honed just to make sure prior to me selling it. I picked up a Teksid a couple weeks ago that will taking its place, along with some custom Diamond pistons and SVT rods... Bullitt's future is Big Bore n/a 2v.

Most rods are designed to bend in event of a failure, keeps damage to a minimum

Just grab a hammer and bang that out on the driveway. It'll straighten back out.

So the bent rod was just an excuse to buy new goodies. I understand now.

exactly!
The plan before this little incident was to get blown and shoot for 550-600rwhp, but I've had many moons to think about what I could do to make this car more unique, and I can't think of too many Bullitts running around with a big bore n/a 2V...
