went to track saturday best time was a 14.3@98 mph i had loads of traction problems due to 4.10s and stock tires

Wish there was a track closer to me, so I could make it at least ONCE ... But those times aren't too bad.

hey Jeffery, how close is Huntsville to you? I know there is a 1/8th mi track there. And from there i have no idea what your next closest one is.. Bristol maybe?

oh and 14.3@98 isnt a bad time. I completely understand about the no traction. Get some DR's under that car and you'll see quite a bit of drop

Huntsville would be ways away. The closest one is up in Kentucky about 2 hours away, or so. Just wish it were closer

2 hours isnt that terribly bad. Specially if you can go on a test n tune day that runs for 6 hours or so. Get there right when the gates open. go in, ice hte car down or cool it off somehow, make the runs etc..

Before I moved to Hoover, i would drive 1hr 30min to teh nearest 1/4mi track. Now its like 30min

problems due to the 4.10's???? I was told that was the way to go? Please enlighten me since I was thinking of getting 4.10's.

oh 4.10's are a great gear, but they help multiply your torque to such and extent that the car can spin the tires with alot less effort. That is the only downfall to gears, you need to get a better tire under them in order to really take full effect of them.

What about everyday driving? If ricer boy pulled up and we were already rolling on the highway (not that I approve of street racing) for example, would I notice the difference?

Hey Jeffrey-

If you ever decide to travel up to the drag strip in KY let me know. Maybe I could come down from Cincinnati. Make a nice early fall weekend trip! Or at least a test/tune overnight trip.

Yup. It's just making the time to do it!

I thought about gears as well ... But not sure I'd want to on a daily driver. If I actually ever made it to the track, it'd be a no brainer.

As soon as I get a new beater, I'm getting gears. I'll let you know how they turn out.

yeah you would notice a difference. 327-410 with good traction is supposed to be worth atleast what like 1/2 a second??? and the DR would help cut down some also. i want to put 410 in my 92. but i am waiting on my Nitto's to come in. they should be here next week. just ordered them today. then here come the gears. im not worried about MPG too much.

well rice boy wouldnt stand much chance. Remember street tires are going to hook better on the street than they do at the track. If you are worried about running from a dead stop and blowing the tires off.. just launch at idle and slip the clutch out. Thats gonna help you get the revv's up and keep the tires from smoking them selves to obliteration. (this applies to street and strip)

No, we don't. I really don't. No......seriously! The only time I speed is on the freeway in the middle of nowhere and even then it's just about 5 mph over the posted. Red Mustang GT = Cop Magnet.
