New muffler??

So i was thinking about getting a pair of flowmaster 40's and do a swap for the OE ones.. But I was wondering if the sound would even be that much better? I was wanting a deep muscle car sound. Eventually i will also add a o/r h-pipe. Input please!!

If you wanna just do mufflers you could check out the Super44's, Borla resonators, or SLP mufflers. Anything should work.

I would go with something else. Mac steeda borla ect. They give a deeper not so raspy tone.

I got the Original 40's on my car, had them welded in along with high flow cats, just replacing the cats and the mufflers made the car sound much meaner and a lot louder. The Super 44's will be a deeper meaner muffler, when the original 40's eventually go on my car im gonna go with the 44's. Macs are louder and a bit deeper, but if your looking for a unique sound and just want to do the mufflers, go Spintech Sportsman series, Magnaflow performance with a chamber sound that is equal to the deepness and loundness of the Macs.

So would it be worth is to get a full cat back instead of just the mufflers?

it depends on your budget, i opted out of getting the cat back, the car comes with SS pipe, the SS kits are more money, all in all i spent 500 for mufflers, install of the mufflers, install of my tips, and install of the cats, which they needed to replace some pipe. the car sounds mean, here is a clip after the work was done, before my headers.

Where did you get the tips from? And where did you take it to get done? I am thinking just a set of mufflers and tips for now, then h-pipe later..?

the car comes stock with an H, i kept mine in place, i took mine to mieneke the guy did my whole familys exhaust so i went there, the guy did an amazing job. just get the mufflers from American Muscle, my guy charged me double per muffler than what you can get it on AM for. I got my tips from summit, 3.5" hooker header tips, but the tips are really your preference since thats what will be visible, unless your going to be running boost eventually the stock 2.25 pipe is good enough, there is a slight tone change with 2.5" pipe that come on cat backs but you wont really notice much of a performance gain. the typical rule of thumb is if you want old school rumble, you go chambered (flowmaster, mac) and H pipe, if you want that exotic roar you go X pipe and straight thru muffler (magnaflow, borla ect).

I had 40's on my '95, I loved them a lot!! I then went to a custom side exhaust & didn't have enough room to use them. 44's just have a diff sound, to me. My 1st mod to my '11 was 40's! I just love them. I had Borla's on the '95. Only sounded good @ WOT, which I was rarely driving @. Plus, way too high for me!! I'm a FM guy myself! If you go with them, you'll be happy.

aside from pipe size, nothing, thats why i kept mine in place, unless your pushing some serious boost and power, you really dont need to go with an aftermarket mid pipe. the stock H is more than able to handle a stock motor with basic mods.
