Mustangs under factory warranty and modifying your car!

Cold Air Induction
Performance mufflers and catbacks
Pullies
throttle bodies
computer chips=(DO THEY WORK ANY MIRACLES FOR FIVE SPEEDS)
X Pipes
5 Speed SHIFTERS

Front, Side, & Rear Bumpers and skirts

Aftermarket Stereos

White Face Speedometer & Tach

Do FORD dealers automatically try to VOID the new car Warranty or are they reasonable?

Is it a partial VOID, or do they push the issue to the limit?

From what I have been told and read. It depends on the dealer. I have been told to get to know my service manager and then take it from there.

Cold Air Induction - No
Performance mufflers and catbacks - No
Pullies - Yes
throttle bodies - Yes
computer chips - Yes
X Pipes (Catted)- No
O/R Pipes - Yes
5 Speed SHIFTERS - No

Front, Side, & Rear Bumpers and skirts - No

Aftermarket Stereos - No

White Face Speedometer & Tach - No

My Service Manager said any mod bolted directly to the engine itself or any change to the stock computer settings would void a warranty. Some are more linient than others. I have a K&N FIPK II CAI, Magnaflow Catted X-Pipe and Magnaflow Magnapack Cat-back exhaust, and Steeda White Face-plate gauge. All are fine with warranty. He said Headers, O/R Pipes, Throttle Body, Upper Intake, Computer Chip, Underdrive Pulleys, and believe it or not higher gears, would void my warranty. If I rolled in with O/R Pipes, they would deny service on the spot.

When I had my '03 GT, I was told anything from the cats back was fair game, and I could do whatever I wanted chip-wise, so long as I replaced the stock one before bringing it in. K&N filter yes, K&N intake, no.

Does a chip offer enough of a gain to be worth buying for a 5 speed car? I have been told that they remove the top speed governer. Is that all they do for a manual? I was told that they offer the most benefits to automatics by altering shift points.

Chips are serious bang for the buck for both auto and stick.
