Got me a 2004 Mustang GT and have been aching to add a little more power and better sound than stock. Been scouring the web for information about different kinds/brands of air intakes and quite frankly the diversity of the reviews was a total waste of research.

I figured that I'd be better off asking people that drive the same car.

Anyway, here is my question to you Mustang aficionados; I've been looking at the following cold air intake systems: Any suggestions/advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Even though I have a v-6, I am really happy with my MAC air intake. It was rather difficult to install (and my father is an ASE certified mechanic!), but well worth it. It really makes the car louder (along with a MAC exhaust, which I am also pleased with. I have heard many other Sixes with dual exhaust, and they sound so... Ricey. Mine sounds very, VERY beefy. Almost like a V-8.)

I recommend MAC. They are from southern california (about 15 minutes from where I live), and have many mustang products.
Ironically, stangnet.com has better prices on their products than Mac's own website!

I'd say avoid any that are made of metal. Metal conducts heat, so a metal CAI is almost contradictory of itself.

K&N FIPK, Densecharger, etc...they would be your friends.

Check out this thread for something on the similar question.

I personally love the C&L trueflow pipes. (not their MAf, keep your stock one) and run a open K&N air filter off of it. In essence its very similar to the Steeda one. Out of the 4 you showed, i'd go with the steeda. Even though it is a metal pipe, the C&L and steeda maf to TB pipes dont attract as much heat as you would think. They are a thicker aluminum and dont absorb it as easy. Mine stays relativly cool compared to the upper intake on my cobra. I like it and the fit was great.

Go with the steeda since its a full kit.

Side Note: if you want the most power out of your stock 04, add minor bolt on's (steeda intake, exhaust, pullies) and then get a chip burned for it. Doug904 on this site took a friend of mines 02 gt and got Amazing gains out of it with very lil mods. The best gains were done on the first chip burn. Check this thread for my post about it. http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?showtopic=4315

densechargers are great. The site is down right now however, but you still could probably find some off of ebay. They're relatively cheap, use k&n air filters, and give pretty good gains.
