Mustang Cats?

I would like to know how quiet these four cats make my car >_> I always wondered how much louder any exhaust system would be without them.

Cats do reduce noise considerably due to them lowering emissions. Im not sure how much they lower it by though.

I had a 99 GT that I switched out the h-pipe for an offroad X-pipe. Still used the stock catback.

It was pretty loud, had a very raspy nascar sound to it. I liked it.

It's much louder when you step on it past 2k rpm. Just cruising on the freeway at 1.7k you won't really notice any different. But when you floor it, it really wakes up. Buy one, you won't regret it. I smiled from ear to ear when I got mine. I wish I would of got mine b4 my catback. I f'in love it. I'm a h pipe guy tho. I like the old classic rumble, it sounds MEAN. No popping and raspy backfires either. Not hating on x pipe, they have some benefits, I just prefer the h pipe sound. Get the o/r pipe, you won't regret it, I promise

I actually decided to go with a off road H pipe. Hopefully it sounds nice with the magnaflows I have on the car already.

What brand H pipe did you go with? And post a video when it's all installed!

Should sound great, just have to be careful; no cats can give you tons of drone at highway speeds.

I just wonder how much louder it's going to be compared to the stock mid pipe.

There will be a noticable difference. I had that same setup on my 96 cobra. It sound good, not obnoxious but had a good deep tone to it. Wasn't as smooth and exotic sounding as an x pipe gives. Ill see if I can find a video of mine

I'm just worried about the install. Some of the stuff I read says it takes a long time and others say once you get the passenger side off it only takes a hour.

There's one passenger side nut that is extremely hard to get off of these cars. Some people never have a problem with it, but I wasn't one of them. Ended up having to take it to a shop and have them cut the bolt out for me and put a new, less corroded one in.

I have 4 new bolts that came with the H pipe as well as a new passenger side gasket I think. I knew I have all the extensions and sockets and everything. Hope it goes well this weekend.

Go by a ford dealer and get a couple of new gaskets that go between the exhaust manifold and h pipe. They are the best ones to use. Also antiseize compound on all bolts.

Are you doing it all by yourself? Make sure you soak everything real good with something like pb blaster. It's real pain to get that one on the passenger side. You'll hate it with all your being by the time you get done with it.

Yeah I'm doing this by myself. I don't have the money to have a shop do it. Ugh lol I'm kinda scared it'll be too hard for me to do. Just lifting the 28lbs pipe was hard for me.lol

You can do it. If can do it, anyone can do it. Just be prepared.
