Nah Pete's car is still weak. So far he's got books and pipe dreams. Maybe one day he can be a contender.

Mine is definitely a learning experience because in all honesty, it's only the 3rd car I've ever owned. I just like to whoop up on Al's ego, because it's another one of those things that's viewable from space.

Maybe, if the gf let's me. I'm leaving that wide open for ya Alseph.

I know I know. Beings that my car is the basis for a lot of arguments at my house, I'll let that one slide. I'm not saying OJ did it, but I understand.

I thought the super sports were better than the z28? Z28 was for "handling" whereas the SS was more about power?

It got carried away. When people start bringing trailer cars to a street race, there will be problems. We used to have St. John parish deputies that would race with us out there back in the day.

The gf already told me that with my turbo that is being sought out and parts being purchased, her 7 year old daughter is no longer permitted in the mustang. I'm like, why? She told me there's too much of an "urge to go fast"... I know nothing of what she speaks..

My kids love it. I don't drive very fast with them in it but their eyes light up when I open it up for them. Probably the only reason I bought the vert. The fellas love it. The wife secretly likes it too she will never admit it. Lol.

So anyways Pete, why are you so convinced on a turbo set up? What's your horsepower goals?

The gf gives me a hard time over how "slow" mine is. I tell her it's not do bad when I'm in it "alone"... She then tells me that she isn't stopping me from kicking rocks. This is why I live this woman, she isn't afraid to tell me how it is when I try and get a rise out of her. She proclaims to be a better driver but she destroyed her SRT4 a few months ago and THAT car could whip on quite a few V8's and 4-bangers here in town. She loves rolling in the Mustang and we both know it, she just knows the stupid things I've done and do in it to not have concern over me increasing my HP 30-40% for starters.

On and for me to get to 600rwhp, that's going to require high boost. Rolling around in high boost is what destroys things Al. Even a dips**t like me knows that. Low to moderate boost is where it's at for a daily.

I don't want a blower for a daily driver, plain and simple. The car isn't going to be a 60' monster but more so just fun on 4 wheels. I would like to have the ability to smart off to the local PD about being able to outrun them "but" I wouldn't be so cliche, asinine, and beyond reproach with stupidity. Rwhp I would be happy at 8psi-10psi (roughly 40% maximum) which will net me roughly 150 more to the wheels at about 430ish rwhp I believe?

There's a local forum of Mustang guys around here that are pretty full of themselves and having the ability to take out new coyotes and Camaros would suffice for me. I don't need the power all of the time "but", spooling at my 3k powerband when needing that extra "umph" is what I'm wanting. Blowers only give 50%-60% effeciency whereas a well designed, thought out, planned and triple checked turbo is going to be a minimum of 70% efficient. Staying in boost for no more than 25-30 seconds will also ensure the car doesn't start blowing things up. It's going to be costly but at least I know that if any failure occurs, it's due to my own oversight and ignorance. Not a blower or kit failure.

I also have that ADHD s**t so running the psi numbers, compressor, turbines, compressor maps, piping and all other things is right up my alley. I like to think random things up and execute. A blower is more of a plug and play for me and it's not necessarily going to give me as much enjoyment. Top alcohol uses blowers because they are great for the people who enjoy and use them as proficiently as they can. If you have the patience, understanding, and knowledge to roll around in a blow car then by all means, go for it. Like I said though, it's not my cup of tea.

600hp is not that difficult. Built 3valve would do it no problem. The issue I have with turbo set ups are tuning. The boost and airflow aren't very constant with turbos so tuning gets very tricky. I like easy and reliable horsepower. I know too many turbo cars blown to hell. Although turbo cobras seem to be holding up decently.

It's the forged internals man. All the turbo does is create torque which as you know torque x rpm / 5252 = HP. The tuning process isn't rocket science but one MUST consider variables. A forged crank is going to handle a heck of a lot more psi then a cast one (obviously), so why in all heck would I run 15psi on anything but forged internals and a higher compression ratio? I foresee more people having engine and car failures because of ill-planning and wanting to go faster once they've grown tired of their setups. I've also seen YouTube videos of twinned Cobras paying down over 1000hp at 30psi and the car is STILL handling the abuse well afterward without blowing up. When you see those failures, were people looking at volumetric efficiency, what their torque curves were, ensuring their turbo was the most efficient trim for what their end goals were? I'm no pro by absolutely any means but I know that any and all forced induction or power adding plans should be way thought out before proceeding.

What difficulties have you seen with tuning a turbo exactly? Oh and I'd gladly trade my 3v for your dohc 4v any day. Aside from from the Ford GT heads, the Terminator Heads were considered to be the next best of all time.

Dude 450hp is not gonna require a turbo setup. I understand if you just have to run a turbo and continuously be tinkering and trying to make it run correctly. If that's you're ADHD therapy, I understand. I've worked on cars for too long. More torture than therapy for me.

I've only ever seen 412rwhp on a single cam 3v and that was pushing maximum capacity from what I read. I could get maybe a 35%-40% gain from porting, boring, and stroking along with cams etc. Right?
