I'm going to be getting a 94-95 gt pretty soon, and the first thing i'm putting on it is some exhaust. I was wondering which cat-back had a deeper/louder sound. I know flowmasters have drown at some speeds, but the reason I am purchasing exhaust is to HEAR the engine.. So post up some opinions. Also I'm going to get an off-road h-pipe, any suggestions of which to get?

o/r H and flowmasters is the classic mustang sound on a 5.0 based car. The magnaflows are a straight through design, giving it a smoother, not as loud, deep sound. I prefer teh magnaflows myself.

I prefer the Flowmaster sound myself, but can't STAND the drone at highway speeds. After running them on just about every V8 powered vehicle ever, I went with Magnaflows this time around. I'm pretty happy with them too.

i'm a huge magnaflow fan for the 4.6, but not so crazy about them on the 5.0 it's too exotic sounding.

My Magnaflows sound great. Loud, but not too loud, and no drone at any speed.

I like the sound of the Flowmasters. They are a bit loud but that's was I was after.

I was at a Ford Dealer this weekend (NO TEST DRIVE I PROMISE). And a guy with a 02 GT Vert had magnaflows on it. I had him rev it for me. Sounded mean. Not too loud either. Very nice. Only complaint maybe is that the tips are pretty large. Could stand to be 1/2" to 1" smaller in diameter.

Flowmasters sound good from outside the car. By what you folks are telling us is that they drown out the peace and quiet inside the car. Does this mean no more stereo while driving down the road? :bang:

If you're going for sound, go with the Flowmasters, if you want performance go with Magnaflows. My 2K GT came with Flows and it sounded kinda loud (louder than Mags) but it didn't really do squat for power (better than stock though, but then again, anything really is) so I went with another brand.

I always thought Flowmasters were top-o-d-line when it comes to performance exhaust. Guess I as mistaken. So, time to think about Magnaflows on whatever car I buy next...

if by sound you mean volume.

Some people think Quantity is better than Quality, I however prefer a quality sound over the quantity of it. But keep in mind he is talking about a 5.0, not the 4.6 and magnaflows sound a lot different on 5.0s (imo, not very good).

the reason everyone thinks flows are the best of the bunch is because they don't know any other brands. flowmasters have been king because of their great sound, but now other brands are coming out with different sound, better performance and better quality.

there are tons of great companies out there, magnaflow, borla, bassani, flowmaster....

flows are so popular b/c they are on the cheaper end of the pricing spectrum. they are better than stock. but if you can afford more expensive then thats what i would go with. i still love Borla even on the 5.0 and IMO nothing touches them on the 4.6 SOHC or DOHC.

Magnaflow Catted X-Pipe with Magnapacks. I get many compliments on this setup. A late model Viper pulls up next to me and compliments my exhaust. He said he spent $70,000.00 on his Viper and a $30,000.00 Mustang sound better than his. But when he took off, I said to myself.....I could live with the crappy exhaust sound.

I prefer the sound of Magnaflows, and I don't think either one will give any significant performance gain by itself.

can anyone acutally explain why magnaflows make more power than flows? Is it the internals of the muffler? I'm just curious...
