A lot of CAI questions !!!

I was about to buy and install a cold air intake system for my 97 gt , but I had some questions before starting the hole project ... And I sure could use some help :-)

- the difference between underhood and fenderwell ? Which one is better for long term and maintenance ? I prefer the look of the underhood ...

- will I get a check engine light ?
- do I need to change the injectors or I can keep the stock ones ?
- k&n or BBK ? Or any other one ?
- I'm a first time do it your self ... Is it as easy as they say it is ?

Thanks a lot for your help ...

First off, welcome to the forum! CAI's are a plug and play mod. On the 05 and up cars gererally require a tune. Your's should not. The fender well intake will draw cooler air from outside the engine compartment. I have a BBK fenderwell intake on mine (02 V6), and am very happy with it. Cleaning the filter is a little more difficult, but not bad. I turn the wheel all the way to the side, remove the fender well screws, reach up in the fender and remove it. Good luck, and keep us posted on what you decide on!!

Yes it is.

You should not get a check engine light or have to change anything else. The best bet to help the CAI is to get a free-flowing exhaust to compliment it since you should be taking in more air.

I ran an engine bay setup in the past but always thought that it was still sucking in warm/hot air from the engine bay. Now I run a fenderwell kit and feel that this is the better solution to getting "cold-air" to the filter. I did not notice any performqance gains between the 2 but my GT is pretty tame compared to others here.

You left one out... The Steeda CAI. Our CAI is American Made and will provide you with an additional 7-10 HP. We also have a stainless steel Housing & Shield (Not Cheap Plastic) Here is a customer review regarding the BBK:

"it's light with all the might, one of my first mods, been on my car for atleast 6 or 7 years now, I started out with the BBK fenderwell, but that one seems better for the drag strip and it's heavier, so I switched to the Steeda breather, can't go wrong with more power and less weight, it's always a good day when you get that steeda box".

Just wanted to provide you with a great affordable option.

PM me if you have any questions or need any more info.
