Went to hypertechs web sit and they have 3 stages. The stage 3 is said to produce 100 more hp. Stage 2- 80 hp stage 1-50 hp. for $300 I think It's a preety cheap mod for the added HP. I'm looking to see if anyone out there has used these chips and if they are worth it???
Thanks for your replies

really wouldnt expect more than 15-20rwhp from a chip unless your car is in bad shape as is. You may want to check out http://www.superchipscustom.com for the SCT brand of chips, which are bar none the best in my opinion.

Yeah there's no way you will be getting that big of gains from a chip... Get either the sct xcalibrator or the predator. I'm going to be purchasing a predator later this month.

yeah, dont think you'll be getting that kind of HP from a chip. they have show where they can get that HP on diesel trucks though. it was on the show on speed chanel. truck ran like a 16.5 stock and the stage 3 chip ran a 14.6. most N/A chips are good for 10-15

Its not hard to install on a mustang period.

On a fairly stock 99+ GT, I would guess 15hp wouldnt be out of the question. You arent going to pick up much at peak, but your numbers across the whole power band are going to come up which is going to help alot and make it more enjoyable

I put a hypertech in mine a few years ago. ordered from mustangs unlimted, they told me that it was programmed for a stock gt engine, which is what i have. horsepower increase minimal, but the car used to ping real bad and now it does not as long i run the recommeded 93 octane. i just don't see how a chip could give you an extra 50-100hp with no other mod...If you do it and it does let me know. I will need to go for the newer model!
I installed mine myself. Just had to plug it into the side off the computer. I did have to clean the connection off though.
Another word of advice. they sent me a new thermostat with mine. if they do have it installed. I did not do it at first and it caused my fan to run full speed all the time and eventually burnt it up!

Thanks for the help Scott. I'll have to get in contact with him and see if he knows any one in the Reading, Pa area that does a good job. 15 ponies sounds great for 300 bucks. Woo-hoo I can't wait!

He can acctually do mail order. SCT is pretty good about getting it close to perfect right out of the box.

Wow! Did you have to change your thermostat or anything or was it just basically plug and play? I'm already dreaming of the added performance.

I have a K&N airfilter already so I would somewhere in the 270's for hp after the chip right?

Now I just have to ask my wife very carefully if I can buy it

that is alot more than 15hp, a one second gain in a truck is like 150hp
Did they turn up the boost?

What does that have to do with anything in this thread??

And why would you inject methanol in a gas motor... desiel maybe.. but gas?

edit: nevermind I see where you get the methanol for.. but on a mild n/a car, it wont help a bit. http://www.snowperformance.net/
