idle

My car is idling really rough. I held the idle at 1000 rpm let off the gas and it jumped up to 2000 rpm can anyone give an Idea of what's going on?

Your IAC valve could be on the Fritz. Have you ever cleaned it/replaced it? How many miles on your car? Any recent upgrades to the air or fuel systems on the car?

Cleaned it recently but it didn't make a difference haven't replaced it. Way over 145000. And no upgrades. It ran for 2 months without an air filter

You may have damaged a part of the valve train. But it's best to have a shop check it out. You could also run a code reader and see if anything comes up.
